The progress so far: I am struggling against struggling against a nasty combination of the end game enemies. Despite this, I'm nowhere near losing this campaign.

Aquatoids attacked a base and offered Calcinite corpses on a silver plater. The result is that I started unlocking mêlée weapons, but the first one is a big disappointment. Somehow I cannot progress beyond this so I must figure what I am missing.

Since i got a warning about terminating the campaign because of money issues, I had to sell some loot and reduce my research abilities. Unfortunately I sold MC readers in the process not knowing that it is vital to unlock MC disruptors. So I am locked out of this until I can get one. There should be some found in the alien bases (I have found three of them) so after identifying some psy strong/weak soldiers, I start assaulting.

I have to say that the research tree of this game is absolutely terrible, no description in there is helpful. Requirement and never explained and I am constantly hitting brick walls. Could be worse, OpenXcom do not have the bugs.

Oh and I also unlocked the updated interceptor but sonic sub weapons are so OP that I will save my zbrite and not use any.

And X-Com is always recruiting! Tell me if you want a soldier named and see how far you survive (spoiler: not far).

PS: Amperzand has terrible MC power.

Damn this summer is so slow. I am necroing this thread to tell you that the aquanauts went to T'Leth and chunked grenades at Cthulhu until nothing remained. The interesting part is that I was playing with the floppy version of TFTD and the cinematics were replaced by slideshows with actual content. That's a different take on the story you may want to check out.

I still have the Piratez save, despite all this time. I'd like to resurrect this campaign but maybe it's better to start from scratch. Any suggestions ?

Yes, the problem is that when I update the pirates can produce death ray cannons but need to learn how to bang rocks together. It's kind of odd.

     Prolly better to start again, rather than messing about with save editing, one of the main story elements about XPirates is the flow of research and the choices that you need to make to go from one to the next.

    So yeah, I'd vote to start again.
