Mist going through walls
« on: July 31, 2016, 09:52:10 pm »

I built my castle in the middle of an ocean, near the shore and the waves automatically generate mist.

I used clay bricks to build the walls.

The problem: everytime the waves crash the mist goes through my walls. Is this supposed to be that way or is it a bug?

You'd probably be better asking this in some place like the Dwarf fortress gameplay questions section rather then here, but it sounds like it's a bug to me.

Do you have a roof over the walls?

Do you have diagonal walls?  Diagonals are open for movement purposes.

To elaborate, mists and clouds will often drift up and over walls.

Wouldn't diagonals stop mist though? I thought that they stopped miasma, I could be wrong though, I haven't played in a while.

This though, the question probably belongs in either DF Gameplay Questions, Dwarf Mode Discussion or Adventure Mode depending on if you're playing in fortress or adventurer mode.

OP is talking about wave mist, a *mostly* visual effect that does in fact pass completely through walls.  It's a very low level visual bug that can have a little impact of FPS.

That said, definitely belongs in DF gameplay questions.

Doesn't mist generate a happiness bonus?
