The Tchaask have long warred, the Tchaask have long quarreled, until with the last hope of Tchaask, Hive Mother Screkan dur'Illiam sent out a fateful ship out of Tchaask and into the rings. When the crew returned, it was not in the vessel they left. It was in a grand vessel forged by the Gods. TRS Destiny was engraved in its side. It spoke truly.
-'Words of the Holy Speaker Galedur has'Tivina', compiled by unknown author.

Spoiler: Species + Biography (click to show/hide)

The Tchaask, ruled by the Hive Mother Screkan dur'Illiam(1), began its journey into space. In the years following the discovery stations were built around the system, named Baccotri after the Tchaaskeranmitnull(2)convened upon the tenative unification under Seper'Screkan(3), in honor of the Tchaaskmitall Baccotri, conqueror of all!

Spoiler: Research (click to show/hide)

The Tchaaskeranmitnull began reseearch efforts into increasing their understanding of the Gods' will for them, with Colaut cur'Yalim(4)being given overseership of studying the Destiny's findings on physics, Sacoterum cur'Yuhal into utilizing the tools on board to map the 'genome' of the species, as matter which the Gods' had declared led to a more accurate and useful healthcare system, and finally Thoraul dol'Harne was given overseehip into studying engineering, something witch she took with great pride. The architects of Baccotri were seen as magnificent builders, and thus she hopes to build similarly great things as well

Spoiler: Species (click to show/hide)

As the first Tchaaskeranmitnull since the Great Baccotri came to an end, a question rung through the halls. The Tchaasknak had begun to question when they would get their turn in rulership. Even as they toiled in the mines, they all wanted to have one of their own on the new council. So it was decided, by Screkan herself, that the title of Drone Ascendant will be given, and those who hold it may attend any council session. They could not vote, but they could observe and speak.

Spoiler: Days Gone By (click to show/hide)

The Second Unification(5)went far better than any could imagine. The Hive Mothers, if begrudgingly, could not deny the blessing of Screkan. As the days pass by, the science ship begins to survey the galaxy, looking for Sola, each day the reality of the situation would press at the Tchaaskmital's mind. What if Sola is not close? She would lead The Tchaask where the Gods' may beckon, but she would fear if she led them far, they would lose hope.

Spoiler: A Distraction (click to show/hide)

A distraction would come months later, however. Strange alien writing? Perhaps the scientist could inspire hope, if it was the Gods' writing again?

Spoiler: A Disappointment (click to show/hide)

Despite her hopes, the scientist Codrales would soon decide it wasn't worth the effort, deeming it to, quote 'Be a waste of my talents examining purely coincidental formations, it's likely some sort of asteroid bombardment coupled with the gravity well of the planet being stronger before.'

Screkan believed her to be faithless, but held her mandibles.

Spoiler: Excitement (click to show/hide)

Attempts to keep the peace about this development proved to be useless, one of the lesser Hive Mothers under Codrales soon broke their agreement of confidentiality, spreading word of 'what must be alien writing', in her words. The capital of Screkan is abuzz with this news, it quickly spreading outwards as time goes on.

The council convened again, this time to discuss the topic of where The Tchaask stood on the arising religious movements inside The Tchaask.

The Gods' Path, what can be considered the state religion, holds the majority of the population. It worships the Gods and their servant Baccotri, holding the Gods and both Baccotri in equal regard.

Baccotrites, the second most plentiful religion. They worship the Gods and Baccotri, however they hold Baccotri higher than the Gods. While they fall in line in most areas, the fact they believe Baccotri to be better than even the greatest of the Gods is... Dangerously close to heresy.

Anti-Baccotrites, the third most plentiful religion. They formed soon after the Baccotrites. They oppose the Baccotrites' main doctrine, claiming that Baccotri was only a vessel for the Gods to do their work. They are considered at the same level as the Baccotrites. Dangerously close to heresy.

Many minor variations of the pantheon exist, however one that stands out are the... Followers of the Unnamed God, or 'The Forsakened Cult.' Knowing the true name of the followers of the Forsaken One is considered to be heretical, and their basis of beliefs must be stamped out. They, however, are crafty just like the Forsaken One, hiding in the shadows with the rest. We can only hope they do not infiltrate the government of Tchaask.

After the meeting convened, Screkan went on to declare the enforcement of 'The Gods' Path' once more as the state religion, heretics being rooted out, converted, and ritually executed to preserve their afterlife.(7)

Spoiler: Expansion (click to show/hide)

The system of Avim, one of the first systems examined by Codrales, was finally confirmed to be under control by Tchaaskeran forces. A small station built based on specifications designed by Thoraul herself was made to symbolize the event. While it was not a magnificent structure as she intended, it was still a structure. One far larger than anything on Tchaask.

Spoiler: Gods' Eyes (click to show/hide)

A large 'wormhole', the scientist Codrales called it, has been spotted in the Azha system. The more religious of the Hive Mothers say it is one of the Gods' many eyes, used to see the universe for its glory. We cannot confirm or deny this suspicion.

Spoiler: Ancient Structures (click to show/hide)

Large structures were spotted on Azha V, however Codrales has her doubts about them being anything of importance. Regardless, she was dispatched and forced to investigate under suspicion of *this* being Sola.

Spoiler: Another Failure (click to show/hide)

Another failure from Codrales, confirming her suspicions and saddening the council. It does not match any records of Sola.

Codrales would begin the day as any other. Check for communications, study what they'd surveyed, forward what was new, and rest. She was bored, but there was no worry from her or her drones.

They detected a strange energy reading from a nearby moon. They went to redo their survey of the moon, 'surely I haven't missed anything', he thought.

Spoiler: Delayed Response (click to show/hide)

Codrales and her crew spent the next three months rescanning every inch of the moon's surface. They however found something they weren't expecting. As they tried to pull out of orbit upon completing the survey, the ship was soon surrounded by two vessels, a strange symbol emblazened on their hull.

Spoiler: Tense Days (click to show/hide)

Gorlife dol'Destiny would step up. The Hive Mother commanding the refitted science vessel would be the first of many great Tchaaskeran admirals. She was given the order to prepare for an attack, a retaliation, against the pirates.

Spoiler: New Blood (click to show/hide)

Viewing Codrales' failure to defuse the pirate situation, the newest science vessel was not given to her and her hive, it was given to a new scientist hoping to make a name for herself.

Spoiler: A Gods' Travelway? (click to show/hide)

A strange structure was found by this new scientist a year later. We're not sure how it functions, but it seems to be some sort of transportation system.

Spoiler: Strange Signals (click to show/hide)

Merould has discovered a set of distress beacons reminiscent to our own. Strange, as we have no allowed non-government vessels to leave Baccotri.

Spoiler: Derelict Vessel (click to show/hide)

A vessel similar to the pirates' vessels is found. We will do research into what was on this vessel in due time.

Spoiler: Comet Sighted (click to show/hide)

Nothing of note occured after that discovery.

Spoiler: And Then We Were Wrong (click to show/hide)

A station was discovered in Kharasta. The mere fact that another spacefaring race exists brings levity to Screkan. Perhaps it is the Gods, and this is a stepping stone to Sola? Will the Great Journey be complete?

Spoiler: Virtues And Example (click to show/hide)

The Fourth Council convened, to discuss this station. It was agreed upon the state shall begin to truly, and justly, show the universe that it can follow the words of the Gods, and that it simply isn't full of sinners. Screkan herself was sure that the Great Journey would be over before it could even begin, not even lasting a decade.

Spoiler: The Electorate (click to show/hide)

The day had been full of meetings. The encounter they had hoped would be Gods was not. It was... Mammals.

"The High King of Rek'Omak greets you, Tchaaskeran, on behalf of the Kingdom and the Electorate."

The Electorate of Rek'Omak was not run by the High King, no, it was ruled by the Electorate, who would sooner depose a High King who would try and rein them in than allow them to rule, declaring previous electors(who coincidentally were the tie breaking votes) to be frauds and put new Photecians in their place, than give up their power. The High Kings soon resigned themselves. While still absolute rulers, many spent their days in luxury and decadence while the Electorate played.

Negotiations began roughly, however soon the two empires came upon an agreement. Star charts would be exchanged and a non-aggression pact signed. This was the beginning of a friendship, Screkan reckoned.

Spoiler: End Log (click to show/hide)

When the Fifth Council, convened to determine if Screkan would continue to hold the crown of Tchaaskmitall, was ended, it was clear. Her achievements and her continued diligence towards the state meant that she would continue to rule.

Long Live Screkan dur'Illiam! Long Live The Tchaask!

Footnotes:

(1) Formally 'Tchaaskmitall Screkan dur'Illiam dur'Lurindia dur'Baccotri
(2) Tchaaskeran Council of Hive Mothers
(3) Tribe of Screkan
(4) Colaut, Baron of Yalim(Yalim being a small parcel of land in the mountains)
(5) The First Unification being when Baccotri unified the Tchaaskeran tribes under one banner.
(6) While the second council of the Second Unification, it is considered the Third chronologically, with Baccotri's Council considered the first.
(7) A horrific practice to non-Tchaaskerans. While it's a simple beheading after conversion, it represents one of the core beliefs of their faith. Apostasy is considered damning permanently, the only way to truly save one's soul is to convert and then allow oneself to be executed for one's unfaithfulness.

Baccotri led his nation, not through fear or power, no, he led it through faith and peace. War was done with the guidance of the Gods and their messengers, and peace was done in accordance with their inspired words. Heresy died, Doctrine reined. Peace was had in The Tchaask.
-'Words of the Holy Speaker Galedur has'Tivina', compiled by an unknown author.

Spoiler: Researched Techs (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: The Tchaask's Extent (click to show/hide)

The Fifth Council also discussed the extent of The Tchaask, mainly out of a greedy mindset to Screkan's displease. The fact the Hive Mothers had already begun to divide The Tchaask up, as if she wasn't even in the room sickened her even if they guaranteed her power would continue another ten years.

Spoiler: OOC (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Primitive Aliens (click to show/hide)

Unenlightened beings were detected on Yeelon III. Strange, perhaps they are waiting for the Gods as we were?

Screkan was notably surprised to see a number of donations from the drones of Screkan(1)arrive, along with a number of museums opened up. The benefactor of these buildings is unknown and their glorification of the aliens we know so little of is... Fascinating.

Spoiler: The Sixth Council (click to show/hide)

The Sixth Council was called out of schedule, not five months after the last. Screkan had finalized her goal. The power base of the tribes was weakened enough to allow her to make a declaration.

"For the continued stability of the Republic, and with great deliberation, I have decided to hereby declare the Second Tchaaskeran Empire!" Screkan would announce to the crowds gathered with great applause. To many, this was the beginning of a new age of prosperity to Tchaask.. "Baccotri will guide the state, the Gods will guide the people!" She continued to another set of applauses. "The Republic will operate and control all manners relating to internal affairs, however the Empire and title of Tchaaskmitall will be as it once was! Ruler of all Tchaaskeran! Absolute and unfearing!" The Council was afraid at this point. The Tchaask at this point was theirs, the Tchaaskmitall simply being as it was in Lurindia's rule. None of them truly believed Baccotri's would be matched.

Screkan knew this drastic action had consequences. She had the current Council ended rather dramatically. The bodies of the scheming Hive Mothers were buried with the Tchaasknak. The lands they held were absorbed into Screkan, with the promise that there would be no more executions. She would appoint new councilors, and while she could not prevent the greed caused by being on the Tchaaskmitnull, she would find them less willing to plot against her life.

Spoiler: Meanwhile (click to show/hide)

As the tumultuous announcement occurred, the derelict ship was examined.

Spoiler: Discovery! (click to show/hide)

Despite similar markings, the derelict was not one in the same of the pirates. No, it contained a crew of strange insectoids, who soon got Screkan on a direct line of communication to their leader. It was... Interesting. They have the same ideals as The Tchaask, regardless.

While The Tchaask is not by any means large, her neighbors are not large as well. Perhaps when the time comes, we will all be friends. One day perhaps.

Spoiler: The Forsaken (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Sighted (click to show/hide)

An image sent to Screkan sparked fear in her. Pirates, those bearing the mark of The Forsaken Cult. The military was dispatched, ready to wage war against them.

Spoiler: The Clash at Baccotri (click to show/hide)

The fight was brutal, the system lay cluttered with debris, but we won against the heretics. Any survivors have been dealt with and our survivors have been rescued. Gods' willing, we will be able to destroy their hideout.

Research by the Hivemother dol'Harne(2) Thoraul has resulted in technological breakthroughs in the vein of tools. Using principles learned from our ventures in voidcraft, we have been able to ascertain ways to miniaturize it, allowing the Tchaasknak to gather more minerals, and according to Thoraul, allow them to fight for far longer than a normal Tchaasknak.

Spoiler: A Strange Hatch (click to show/hide)

Codrales, in one of her first missions after being given command of another vessel, has discovered a strange hatch on an asteroid, revealed by time and wear. She will investigate it quickly.

Spoiler: Research Update (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Research Update 2 (click to show/hide)

The Seventh Council was called to discuss the topic of the Forsaken One's cult that had recently begun its reign of terror in the frontier. Many suggested utter annihilation, without any chance for redemption among their survivors. Other suggested amnesty and a world outside the Republic if they stopped their ways. All, however, saw the necessity of the Inquisition being brought back to prominence.(3)

Spoiler: An Enemy Spotted (click to show/hide)

Photographs from a recent probe into Forsaken territory reveals what the Council feared. The Forsaken had converted managed to create an outpost in a number of closely linked asteroids.

With the blessing of the Holy Speaker Irindal has'Coleth, the fleet went to the Forsaken outpost and made short work of them. Every Tchaasknak and Tchaaskeran onboard were slaughtered in the name of the Gods.

Spoiler: Colonization Efforts (click to show/hide)

In her speech, Screkan promised Hive Mothers with little or no land that they'd get to be the first to settle land in the stars, she meant it. A list of habitable planets was provided. Anaxador III was chosen as the first.

Spoiler: Codrale's Marble (click to show/hide)

Codrales, in her exploration, discovered a civilization equal to our own civilization not two centuries prior. It is amazing to see these things in progress. We shall study them if at all possible.

Spoiler: Staring Into The Void (click to show/hide)

We have uncovered better ways to manufacture our hulls! Not much else has occured however.

With the landing of the Tribe of Vagalod, the planet is open for Tchaaskeran colonization. Screkan herself has made a number of trips to plot out land provisions to the Hive Mothers promised land.

Spoiler: Research Update 3 (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Another Contact (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Their Greetings (click to show/hide)

The Varelviv Alliance has shown itself to be friendly, however they appear to be willing to fight if we intend to fight. We do not intend to fight. A relationship can only be beneficial with them.

Spoiler: The First Trade Deal (click to show/hide)

In order to quell a recent deficit, The Tchaask has elected to pay the Rek'Omak Slave Barons to provide us with minerals at an... Unfavorable rate.

Spoiler: The Tchaask's Throne (click to show/hide)

In a grand ceremony led by the personal shamans of Screkan, the throne of the Tchaaskeranmitall was blessed, as it was when Baccotri ascended and as it was when he was killed in battle. This was the implicit signal that Screkan was to be seen not as just holding a title, but one favored by the Gods.

The Eight Council convened. It was to determine if the election of the Tchaaskeranmitall was to be given to Screkan, or one of the leading Hive Mothers. Before any votes could be cast, Screkan spoke. The final promise she made in her grand speech was that every ten years, the title of Tchaaskeranmitall would be put up to a public vote, removing this electorate from the Tchaaskeranmitnull, to the Drones of The Tchaask. Outrage was had, however after assurances that only Hive Mothers or worthy Drone Ascendants would rule them, there was less outrage.

Spoiler: Author's Note (click to show/hide)

Codrales cur'Yalim
Despite failure and humiliation among The Tchaask's rulership, Codrales is determined to show The Tchaask that she can rule just as well as any other. They intend to bring a new age of growth to The Tchaask, expanding the farmland and mining networks on both the homeworld and beyond. She also hopes to expand the fleet to it's absolute maximum capacity, seeing the Rek'Omak as rivals and not as friends.

Religion: Baccotrite
Fertility Preacher and Industrialist.

Coalut cur'Yalim
Land-Relative of Codrales, Coalut has similar ambitions for the throne. She wishes to see the mines of The Tchaask expanded outside of simple planetary bodies, seeing voidborne materials as far more valuable for superstitious reasons moreso than practical ones. She holds the same contempt for the Rek'Omak, however they do not make it open and in fact it would only be apparent to those close to her. She can be seen as pragmatic about relations with them. A primary goal she would wish to accomplish is modernize the fleet and expand, but at a more reasonable pace, not one that is made simply to oppose a nation.

Religion: Baccotrite
Champion of the People and Space Miner.

Suclien cur'Fargeth
The Governor entrusted by Screkan herself with the rulership of Screkan and her fellow tribes. He wishes to simply maintain the status quo. This can be partially ascribed to being a slothful individual, content with what he is given, only wishing to increase his own wealth. Somehow, this goal has earned him the favor of the lands he governs.

Religion: The Gods' Path
Champion of the People and Investor.

(1) The Drones of Screkan is a term used to refer to all citizens living in the lands of Screkran dur'Illiam, not simply a term referring to the Tchaasknak under Screkan.
(2) Thoraul dol'Harne is the regent for the Barony of Harne, a small village under Screkan's demesne. The title of 'dol'Harne' will be relinquished upon the day, if one comes, where a Hive Mother of the Screkan line is given rulership of it.
(3) Operating since the fourteenth century common era, the Inquisition of The Tchaask operated to enforce religious orthodoxy, and to root out the at the time recently denounced and excommunicated sect of 'The Forsaken One.'
