So ends your journal. Just another ordinary, terrific day.

ouch on the magma baths - those levers looked important.

Huh. Didn't know the caverns had catwalks. Cute.
Almost as cute as the malnourished Garethosanene Lòmifo Ciwa. Webs?
Webs you have plenty of (perhaps pasturing few cats would be good idea).

Animal?!
Wolf, specifically.
The Undarak are a race of peacekeepers, bound to the mortal plane of existence by ancient bond created by bored gods woth nothing better to do, 15 universes ago. It's why many dpicies are humanoid, they're distant relations.

The capital was built at the very inmost point of a massive valley,. Itwas built around a large river, with large, clean, medieval looking buildings, with banners and tall coloured rooves. However, the city was dwarfed in comparison by the immense castle built nestled in the mountains above the city. The castle, while far smaller then the city, was a mess of towers and rooves that seemed to tower over everything for miles around. Ryukan had been taken from a landing pad, put on a large cart, and carted to the city via a mountain pass, accidentally allowing him to see all of the sights in the area. At the mouth of the river vally was an extremely large bay, which Imic told him was Dahran's wrath. A mage called Dahran had supposedly pulled it away from the sea in times long gone, and then died from a heart attack. Never use too much magic at once.

It didn't last long. Soon they were in the massive towers and rooves of Undarak's capital.
Undarak.
Oddly, in old high Undarak, Un was the word for under, and Arak the word for town. Noone had figured out why yet.
Finally, after Imic had given him too many lectures on every single tiny crack of the city, he was taken to the highest tower of the city.
"Aren't you going to torture me?" Asked Ryukan.
"No. That is not our way. Torture is... Dishonourable."
The elderly paladin spat the word Out like a curse.
"We will take the evidence, and analyse it. That is our way. Then,we shall enact justice. And then, you will be set free."
"This... This is all because you just want to punish me?"
"Oh, yes. You've got many crimes under yer belt, and old Fellorath, head judge, is going mad, poor old girl. Too much unpunished, so she says."
"Oh."
"And not right now, either. We need to essemble the high council first. It was my idea to do some wuestioning."
Ryukan sighed a long, deep, sigh.
"An eye for an eye is how we punish. You stole something? Give it, or something of equal value, back. You attack someone? You r cieve the same amount of pain back.
You kill someone?"
I need to go. Anyway, what would you like to eat?

Gloomdiamonds

"Oi, Imic!"
"Yes, yes... What is is..."
Imic II got off his seat where he was reading.
"Whaddya need?"
"You're the new overseer."
"WHAT?!"
"Yes. Here's the badge."
"My gods. I... Well, let's get to work, then."

Gloomdiamonds

Airith gulped down her eighth mug of wine. Her master had just been kidnapped and didn't put up much of a fight. He could've called the Truthbearers out of hiding, but he didn't. She was confused. And! To top it off, he actually grinned when they took him away! If she didn't know him better, she might say he had one of them disorders or something.

Speaking of Thruthbearers, she sent two to Undarak to keep an eye on her master. He might've been a little loony, but his particular set of skills were useful and nigh irreplaceable. She told them to only interfere if his life was in immediate danger. If they were found out, they were to high tail it back here.

Other than that troublesome Paladin, things here in Gloomdiamonds were normal, one might even hazard to say, uneventful. Of course they had the normal issues associated with Dwarven fortresses, magma leaks, Forgotten Beasts, Moody Dwarves, but it was all good.

What bothered her at this moment, was that Imic was in charge of the fort. She didn't know why she didn't trust him, it was probably because he had the same name as that Paladin and spoke almost exactly like him. With the Rutile now his for this next year, she's gonna tread carefully. Next thing she needs is to have her body suffer one of them "unfortunate accidents". Just stick it out this year and try not to die.

Next year. Next year she will gets the hat, and The Plan will come to fruition.

Journal of Imic II, Overseer of Gloomdiamond.

As a start to my position, I have announced the diggenning out of a future Library. We don't have nearly enough books in this fortress.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I have also ordered the creation of a small square area for entry to future parts of the fortress which may be built in the future.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I shall ask the populous what they would symbol they would like on it.

he walked out into the main area of the fortress, and made an announcement shortly after writing this.
"I have decided to build a large plaza, and, may I ask, what would the people like it to look like? well?"

While the voting took place, he went back to work arranging things. He took note of the current shortages and began to order more made.

I have noted that the food is faaaar lower then the current drink stockpile. I shall announce the creation of extra farms.
After teking note of the number of farms, I have decided to make seven more, 20 is a nice round number which could keep us going for a good many years.
I shall promote extra farmers.
Cheese production shall begin, once I find out if we have any milk - producing animals.

Yes! More books! Relatively useless they may be!

Heh. Is that self-deprication? I don't know.

small area = "large plaza"

Well, keep in mind that you can't unsmooth walls or floors, or unengrave walls. Mix of the two can look great at times for modular design, as exhibited in Sphalerite's Brightwater oceanside fortress.

And, hm... 20*5 per plant * 2 harvests=200 food per season, enough to feed 100 dwarves.

But wait...*checks Dark One's stocks on previous page*

Don't you mean it is the other way around? With 81 meat, 219 fish, 570 plant and 4942 other the food situation far eclipses the formidable 2357 booze available - the food should last for up to 3 years and 2 months, while the alcohol might be consumed in the space of 7 months.

Other food? I didn't even notice that. It's perfect for my... Brilliant scheme. Evil scheme. Good for everyone scheme. It might take more then one year.
Please can I have a teensy bit more?
The next person could have the remainder + their full year!

Mind, probably not all that other is consumable in the moment - some may be something like tallow or eggs.

Not sure what you could possibly do with the prepared meals; at worst, you might season them with gecko sauce. Well, not like I'm opposed as long as the updates are timely.

I  can do one about once or twice a day, I'm involved with school stuff, becoming a teacher and all that. Weekends I can do a good bit more.
