If you look at his old posts, he isn't really less abstract than he used to be, he's done a lot of quite representational stuff the whole time he's been here. What he's doing differently is that he's painting more. Until somewhat recently, most of his stuff was line drawing, with solid color fields for empty space. Now he's doing more that's painted, with edges rather than lines, and colors that have been painted on with a knife (or, I think, some digital equivalent that I'm not familiar with) filling the spaces that would have been blank before.

I like both styles in different ways, but the more painterly one seems more marketable.
