Orichalcum is mentioned outside the texts of Atlantis, and unlike Atlantis is not mentioned almost entirely by plato, odds are it did exist and was probably a Copper-Gold alloy, similar alloys have cropped up in Asia and the Latin Americas, so it's not unlikely.

Atlantis was probably a fictional story inspired by composed events of the past and only ever sees mention in Plato's texts or in reference to Plato's texts, so it probably did not exist.

Additionally, Orichalcum in the modern term is used to refer to a Bronze alloy in Roman coins.

keyword: probably  :)

On Topic: Wish I could still draw as some years ago (though I never even touch the awesomeness of most of you). I would even consider buying a tablet...

When dealing with history (especially ancient history), nothing is certain.

Nothing is a word too strong. Certainly there was a Roman Empire, who certainly was a republic once. Even a more obscure one, like the Assirian Empire, certainly existed...

No, actually, nothing is ever entirely certain. Merely beyond reasonable doubt.

Well, it is at least merely beyond reasonable doubt. I guess we won't be able to do better.

Quote
If there was a long-running DF webcomic, King Awemedinade would definitely either have to be a main character or an oft-recurring gag character.

Well, there is a suggestion based webcomic around here somewhere... ;) One that may plan on introducing an elf of some sort in the next chapter (to round things out)... just saying...

i do't really know, it was just supposed to be a parody of that frazetta painting of conan the barbarian.

And, you know, he was once married to an elf., so he doesn't hate all elves.
Maybe she's some elf he converted to the dwarven way.

That's what makes it even worse for his little pet elf.

In the context of DF, he just made it more realistic.
