Asin's random ideas/thoughts thread.
« on: September 29, 2016, 08:25:47 pm »

I was given the idea to make a random ideas thread by someone here on the forums (sorry for forgetting your name). No more flooding this board with my ideas. They, from now on, will be here.

RI (stands for Random Idea, duh!) #1: A DF beat'em up fangame with Streets of Rage style gameplay.
RI #2: A time travel mod (may or may not be inspired by Chrono Trigger).
RI #3: A DF based play.

So, how are these first few ideas? Stupid? Intriguing? Let me know!

Time travel...Don't know what's Chrono Trigger so might be bit difficult to implement, but might be possible, given the relative size of region file to average hard disk.

As for play, perhaps if it is filmed. Don't think DF has that great popularity or concentration to fill a theatre.

The story will be a bunch of human geeks time travel back to year 1050 DC (dwarven calendar) to save Boatmurdered from evil elephants, only to find the goblins are actually creatures created by a future mad scientist by the name of Armok?

That for the play or the time travel mod? Or both?

About the play. I imagine it being a small production of sorts, a good fanmade one.

1. I would love to see something like this, but I imagine it would be thematically similar to the acclaimed mega-drive classic "Golden Axe"

2. Maybe when the mythology stuff gets done, something like this could happen. It would be cool to die and enter the spirit world to restore time to a point when you were still alive, for example.

3. A play sounds awesome.
It sounds like a great 'forum game'.

p.s. @ Asin : does a few sentences really constitute an 'idea'? It seems more like 'thoughts'

I imagine the play's basic plot would either be one of these:

a. 7 dwarves are sent from the mountainhome to build a settlement with the goal to collect the elusive metal, adamantine.

b. The inhabitants of a fortress belonging to the victors of a dwarven-elven war find themselves having to accept some of the conquered elves into society. Some elves take into the dwarven ways to integrate better, while other elves refuse to give up their beliefs to the dwarves.

Asin must be very new to the internets, but for some unknown reasons I am glad to see DF forum does treat him gently.

Usually there would be hate and memes pasted all over his topics.

Speaking of your topics Asin, 74s does has a point - few sentences are more like loose thoughts than an ideas.

You can still tie them up together using MindMaps:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_map

Here is a free soft for doing just that:

Not that anybody will care but still it is a good practice to organize your own thinking into something that might be useful  8)

I have been surfing on the web since I was 5. At least. It's just that most of that time was more or less YouTube.

It was also Wikipedia to learn things. Though Wikipedia is not exactly the best at that kind of thing.
