Alright lovelies, so here the deal.
The next challenge is going to be a writing challenge, as you may or may not already know. The point is to create one of the lieutenants, people that have been covered in a magical paint that essentially marks them as special individuals for the Gestating God. We've seen what happens to the unfortunate individuals that are affected by this paint. And it is later shown that what type of eldrich abomination they turn into is, in some way, related to what sort of misdeed they tended to perform.

You're going to create a backstory for a future boss, in short!
The thing is, nobody is just born evil. It's always a connection of things that bind together to form a despicable human being. So, to that end, you people are expected to form together a coherent backstory for some mean bandits that have their own exceptional sin.
This will be in around seven parts, and I'm giving you two days for each part (so you should have enough time, and so we don't have to fiddle with different time-zones). This way, the challenge will take around two weeks to finish. If both contestants have sent in their bit, I will judge the two underneath the Web of life update, hidden under a spoiler. If I understood this game correctly, you will also be posting the bits of the story inside the main Web of Life thread. My request is that you put your writing in your chosen color.

The first part that you will need to write is the lead-up to a life of banditry. The character's childhood, possibly adulthood, up to a point in time where they do something horrid. The actual horrid act will be in the next update, so you should speed through the characters early life now and describe the horrible event in detail for the next update. My personal suggestion is that you apply some irony for the later transformation into a monster. Another, more important, suggestion is that you figure out the finish line of your character FIRST. What kind of bandit he/she was in around one sentence, and what type of abomination he/she became. It's much easier to write towards something than to figure it out as you go along
There is no limit on the length of the story, but I do expect around four lines of text.

LIQUIFIED SPLEENS
They will design it themselves. This is basically build-a-bear, but for an abomination that goes against reality itself.
They should essentially be a soul. A small, moving flame that has a consciousness.

In a way, they will be building their characters up throughout the stories. So as it stands, they are little more than small flames in their respective colours.
It will change, depending on their story, of course.

Avatars will be made if a player desires to use one.

Welcome ladies and gentlemen, to the official start of the Forum runners and Web of Life crossover. Two contestants will be designing lieutenants, starting from their childhood, to their unfortunate doom as a horrible monster. The two contestants are Gwolfski and TankKit, and as such they will post their individual parts of the story in this very thread.

For the first round, they will describe the early life of a lieutenant. There is always a definite point in time where one would go over to a life of banditry. Something terrible, usually. Shaming. But whatever lead up to that? What kind of childhood would that character have had? That would be the first round. There will be seven round in total, with a timeframe of two days each.

For the sake of keeping the main story and the Forum Runner game apart, I will keep this spoiled, and under the main update.
Also of note, I've decided to add a little story for our contestants, because why not?



Well, it appears to be over. Whatever horror that was... I'm sure the two of you are wondering where you are? You, my friends, are in Limbo. Your souls have been given the grant opportunity to pass on, despite our good old Gestating God's wishes. As the God of Death, I do believe I carry that authority, oh yes... I come for all, in the end. But, of course, an eternity of waiting and processing the dead have left me quite bored, so I ask of you, my dear little souls.

A decision has been made. The tournament will now resolve under a best of three scenario. This means the competition could be over after this match! Either way I encourage both competitors to give it their all and be sure to be as active as possible until the end which is very close.

There was a lot to learn from this run, there were challenges on both of your end, outside of those set before you by the trials. Yet alls well that ends well. I'd like to invite the hosts, Rethi-Eli and Liquefied Spleens to give their parting comments.

Heyho, everybody!


It was fairly interesting to be a part of this game, despite some of the troubles our contestants had. I was most surprised when I saw a marketable improvement in one of the contestants, which was something I hadn't even dared hope. It was also quite fun to create a sort of god, and it gave me a good starting point on how gods should be in the Web Of Life universe. All in all, this was a gift that kept on giving.

Let's hope Forum Runners becomes a mainstay in this forum. It's a great thing to work with, beginning to end!

D'aww, my little runners are growing up so fast. Congratulations to the both of you for doing a splendid job in the first ever Forum Runner Championship. I truly hope that the wonderful Forum Runner challenge becomes a shining standard of the Bay12 games forum.

/ \: Well, as you probabaly know, I had quite a few problems with the second challenge due to some computer, but I was luckily still able to win. As for the first one, it was ok, I kind of enjoyed running around like a crazy person. However, I will not hog all the glory for myself, and I must say that I did enjoy my opponent's story in the second challenge, and it was rather unfortunant that he died so soon and in such a bad way in the first challenge, I would of prefered if that one had gone on longer. Also, thanks to our gracious host for hosting this.
