Before this thread, I never even thought about cooking bacon in a oven.

i didnt know that cooking bacon in a pan was even possible, i also didnt know pre cooked bacon was a thing either.

who would have thought that a random thought would become educational

The way I learned it was to cook it in the microwave between paper towels, to absorb the grease.

I don't really eat bacon very often.

Pan, of course. (Vegetarian bacon exists.) Yum... bacon and eggs. An easy and quick way to turn breakfast into anything-but-another-bowl-of-cereal.

All of them are good. They taste and feel different and I want different kinds now and again, so I alternate on how I make it.

If I'm eating the bacon by itself, I use a frying pan because I like my bacon with some crispy spots and some chewy spots. If I'm crumbling it into something as bacon bits, I cook it in the oven because it's more uniformly crispy that way.

If I saw someone try to put bacon in a microwave I would knock it out of their hands. It would do the bacon less injustice to fall on the ground.

Sure? It's a'ight. You... coat it in something first. Flour or whatev', normal deep frying stuff. Been long enough I can't really recall what it tastes like, though.

Just bumping to post:

You're all scrubs, I use a George Foreman grill for my bacon! The bacon comes out good and I feel less guilty about hogging down half that pack of bacon. It drains a lot of fat off the bacon and I can save that to cook with or dispose of. Usually cook with. Try bacon burgers without the actual bacon, fry that patty with some of this grease.

Jimbo, that's a good idea, but you just reminded me that there are people who cook microwave bacon. Also apparently some who cook it in the oven for some godforsaken reason.

How you prepare prior to cooking is as important as how and what you season it with.

Microwaved bacon tends to lose a lot of greasy water content (i would never recommend consistently eating anything out of a microwave) so pad it with kitchen roll underneath to absorb, whereas a oven can just boil (some people cover it in foil to get it heated faster or let the fat drip off into a basin below for storage because animal fat is valuable) the fat right off making it leaner.

In a pan the fat that comes off should be used to enhance the flavour with seasoning for more of a cheaty dirty but very nice treat.
