Starting a war with the elves
« on: January 07, 2017, 05:51:00 am »

Hey guys, i started a lets play with a fortress which had the idea to be a offensive fortress directly in elvish forests.
The idea was to start a war as fast as possible and deforesting everything while defending against the elves.
Problem is that the elves wont declare a war despite me deforesting everything, insulting traders and seizing wares and killing a few of them.
What would be the quickest way to mod the game in a way that will make them atack/ declare war ?

Kill their diplomats.

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

Thats the first thing i tried, they are not reacting though.
Does anyone know a way to mod a war in the inifiles or even a DF hack command ?

Add the BABYSNATCHER tag to make them hostile, like goblins, or make all ethics the complete opposite of Dwarven ones.

Baby snatcher is essentially a power block tag. Anyone with it is against others who don't have it.

Note that ENTITY:FOREST in vanilla also only ambushes, never sieges - one or the other is the case with all vanilla creatures. Both tags together may result in weird behaviour, perhaps like whole siege laying in ambush groups.

Well, in recent version I killed several of their diplomats until they sent 100 some war beasts and troops.
But the c menu still shows a green P, so I guess it is hard to start an open war. They will ambush you with an entire army though.

Adding [BABYSNATCHER] won't do anything to an already existing world. No modification of the entity files will have an effect because they're only looked at when world generation starts.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.

Not true. You can modify their SIEGE triggers in existing world and have that take effect.

Modify the SIEGE_POP_TRIGGER, iirc, in entity_default.txt in your region file raws. Values 1-5 correspond to 20, 50, 80, 110 and 140 population.
