I'm trying my hand at making civilized creatures again and am frankly surprised that there's so much I've either forgotten or have been added since the last time I've done this. Just need a hand (four, actually) to finish this damn thing.

Holy fuck. My PC is currently borked so I couldn't copy-paste this onto this post so I had to transcribe it on my phone.

Anyway, there it is. Borked as of now - it won't appear in arena mode - but I think my hands have done enough DF-related typing for today. I'm off to find a picture-to-text app for android.

Here's a goals list I'll be updating occasionally.
1. Finish working (usable in adv mode) prototype of khuyagt chono.
     1b. Add female caste with different name (ter chono).
     1c. If needed, assign breeding capabilities to female caste.
2. Make all khuyagt chono quadrupeds with two front legs that can act as hands.
3. Fully civilize the khuyagt chono.
     3b. Have khuyagt chono only spawn in savage biomes.
     3c. Have khuyagt chono savage civs be based around fighting/teaching martial arts.

If it's not showing up in Arena, first step should always be to check the error log, it will often tell you exactly what's wrong.  Off the top of my head, I'm not sure that BODY_QUADRUPED_NECK has any GRASP limbs, so giving them scratch attacks attached to GRASP limbs might cause an error.  Also, the arena uses the caste names not the race names, so you probably have "chono" showing up but not "khuyaght chono". 

In order for DF to work, a civilized race needs to have GRASP limbs to do jobs.  I'm not sure what would happen if you gave a limb both GRASP and STANCE.  And without DFHack, you cannot stop them from wanting to wear clothing.  If you don't give the civ any native types of clothing, they will still feel ashamed to be naked (though you might be able to give them a particular personality that makes them not care, I've never experimented with that) and they will still try to grab up and wear every sock and mitten they find on a goblin corpse. 



I'm not sure you can really force a civ to be based on fighting.  If they don't have sufficient agriculture, they'll starve.  You can do things like make the civ value bravery and martial prowess, or make the creature to learn fighting faster, or prevent the civ from generating scholars, or limiting certain reactions.

first thing I've noticed here is that you have no line above the object creature line that would be the same as the filename, which should be creature_whatever
