What am I looking at here?
« on: January 15, 2017, 04:39:08 pm »

I settled on a glacier volcano and found these really weird rectangular prisms (they each have several z-levels) of revealed stone and ice. The middles are lit up like they're just constructions and as far as I know none of the surface has thawed, so what's going on?

EDIT: Oops, could have sworn I was in DF General.

If you pause game right after embarking, by, say, using reveal hell before you press enter to see your wagon, then you can look around with d-d and see that magma pipes draw hot lines around their 48x48 squares.

I bet this is what heated up those, which then immediately froze again.
