The Observer Skill

Its very nice to know when the enemy is going to charge you and I cant deny that.

But whats the use of knowing they will wildly attack you with a left punch? Or even to know they aim at ur lower arm?!

As far as I know, from this information all you can do is intercept an attack with a grab.

But next turn they can punch you with the very hand your still grabbing! If not attack you with the weapon its holding. :o

I aimed at incoming hands and feet but didnt notice anything exceptional.

I also dodged accordingly (left or right) and didnt get flank openings nor roll bonuses.

Am I missing something here or its really kind of useless?

You can intercept the attack with a grab and then break their wrist, preventing them from using it again.  I think you are also more likely to hit a limb they are attacking with.

You can also decide whether it's important to block or dodge an attack (sword to the neck) or if you'd be better off letting them hit so you can get an extra hit in (punch to the armored chest).

Observer also makes you more likely to automatically block or dodge attacks in general.  Very important against archers.

It also makes you more likely to notice ambushes before they notice you ("you feel uneasy" vs "Ambush!")

So, not a bad stat at all.  I usually put a couple of points into it.

I usually hack whichever arm is attacking me. You can also choose to dodge.

Fun alternative: you can trap a limb holding a weapon with your arm, then counter attack and throw them the next turn.

It's one of the skills I always drag along in my limited adventuring lately, being able to look at a man who's about the punch me then stopping it, compared to getting my teeth knocked out and dying.
