Good enough for a few steel battle axes!  Gotta say it is an ideal dwarfy fortress area.  Now, the elves, humans, and goblins?

I'll take the easy one...  Californian = elf.  Not all, but some... :-\

Also, we have snowbirds.
(DF Translation: Temporary migrants who stay from Limestone to Obsidian (though mostly just for the winter months) and leave.)

Goblins come in the winter months, but I find it hard to see snow birds as goblins...

That said, I feel terrible writing this but it is SOOO obvious and my fort is plagued by them.

Snow birds = old buzzards

Nilbert, I agree some Californians are dirty elves.

Goblins... People from Los Vegas? (Not sure if goblins would be in Arizona...)

Humans, I think Colorado?

Can't agree with humans in Colorado.  My brother lives there.  He is definitely and elf, probably an elf lord or something knowing him.  (BTW, he must have been adopted as I have no elf tendencies myself :) )

Somewhere in a desert, say Libya, is an unconspicuous hole in the ground... and only if you keep going down, wondering about the wet walls (are we below the big aquifer yet?), you will reach the thriving dwarven fortress powered by geothermal energy building computers with water and magma and minecarts and gearboxes biding their time and drinking dwarven ale until the surface is truly ruined. Then they will come forth shotgunning green glass toys against their enemies...

If not desert then somewhere in Greenland or Antarctica.

Okay, if that's the case, then go to the Gold Coast in Australia for goblins, and there might be a goblin presence near those gold-bearing hills in northern Victoria as well.

Goblins, being needless, can live anywhere.  In practice, this means they thive anywhere that their enemies (all other sapient life) has trouble.  Deserts, swamps, and glaciers are their main locations.
