what is the strongest gem?

recently in my modding adventures, (not what this topic is about) i found the amethyst man in the creature_new_underground.txt file.

I then soon realized that this could be any gem in the game with a very simple raw edit. 

So here is the question, what is the strongest gem that you would make an adventurer out of? any suggestions are welcome.

Guessing diamond  :P

Then ruby, sapphire

Can't it be changed to any inorganic material? Glass, steel... slade?

But if you wanna go with gems, try diamonds, or something heavier. Quartzes have hardness 7, topaz has 8, and I heard peridots are remarkably resilient...

i would like to keep it a gem, steel or slade seems a bit cheap you know?
also thank you for the suggestion, diamond does seem like it would be the obvious choice for its hardness.

is there any badass sounding gems you would use for style?

How sharp are gems? You could give your guy claws and have him rip through limbs with diamond slicers.

Gems aren't really very good structural materials.  Much like in real life, they are hard, but brittle; punches will bounce off them but a solid hammer blow will fracture a diamond man.

If you want a strong adventurer, make them out of steel.  Or adamantine.  Or slade with adamantine claws.
