Those of us without a stutter probably aren't the best at recognizing one or not, but I think dragdeler's point remains: this stutter argument is being used to shrug off any and all of Biden's bungles. It's also something I've never heard about him until about a month ago, which doesn't lend it the most credibility.

The major point being that people are looking at Biden as "the one who can beat Trump" - but if his stutter makes him less eloquent and less able to handle pressure in an argument, especially with someone who interrupts and will relentlessly push on any weakness he can, such as Trump, then the original suggestion that Biden is the boy is flawed.

He's had to stop appearing publicly because of the number of gaffes, and they are changing the debate rules to help hide how bad he is. The man is genuinely unwell, and voters are falling for the argument that they need to vote against their own interests because the corporations say so.

The candidates will be seated.

An additional rule was instated as well, pretty much solely to ensure that Tulsi Gabbard won't be debating.

In the last debate, any candidate that had at least one pledged delegate was eligible. This let Tulsi in. The next debate requires 20% of the delegates already pledged, which excludes Tulsi because she is far, far, below that threshold, having only 2 (not 2 percent, 2 pledged delegates out of over a thousand). This is to limit the debate to candidates that have an actual chance of winning the nomination.

Been hearing talk that the DNC is throwing this election deliberately as an alternative to giving Sanders a chance at victory.

Yeah, that's pretty obvious. Why would a bunch of millionaires and billionaires want to allow democracy to elect a guy who wants to tax millionaires and billionaires?

As a southerner, the general feeling I get is that the socialism scare factor did Bernie in more than anything.  That and lots of people still believe in the myth of being a moderate, and think Biden will give them that compared to Bernie.

This sounds about right. The Root actually did a very helpful article on how a lot of people voted with their minds set in a pragmatism-based view. I've heard this view fairly often, as well - "Pick someone who can win."

Ever since the republicans began openly courting racists following Nixon's Southern Strategy and the playbook Reagan made from it, suffice to say the idea of being a black republican voter in the south has been utterly absurd for a half century or so.

Despite his running with a (D) by his name this year and last time, despite the actual effort he's put into fighting for equality, and despite the overall superior outcome which would result if his goals were accomplished in office, Bernie was never really a democrat, so he was never really "their guy" like Biden has been, and that is what fucked him in the south.

To make up for it, the Democrats have also been openly courting racists for as long as I can remember. The Democrats want to take voters from the far right, not from the left. And, despite that being repeatedly shown to be a losing strategy, they've doubled down on it.
