I was curious in USA which states had actual abortion complete ban to start with.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abortion_in_the_United_States_by_state

Before that Roe vs Wade court ruling it looks like a huge majority of the american states had actually abortion illegal, but since the ruling, it looks like most of them changed that and allowed abortion (with some specifics depending on the state), but still
Quote
Eight states—Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Wisconsin—still have pre-Roe abortion bans in their laws, which may be enforced too

As a comparison :

Quote
As of 2021, there are twenty-four countries in which abortion is illegal in any and all circumstances
and now +8 american states ...

This BBC article has a list of states in it (though it seems to be an interactive thing so it might not appear depending on browser settings/plug-ins) and the various conditions of the laws, organized by how early in pregnancy abortion would be banned, as well as some statistics on who has abortions below that.

Shonus, you are correct that any Bernie supporters who supported Trumpism were abject fools just as the lefty orgs who were pro-Putin were, in my opinion the same as any portion of Democrats either party should be considered for becoming foreign-entangled. However to say it was Bernie supporters at blame for this is wrong. It turns out, moderate leadership were more concerned about campaign donations as that often seems a primary focus for the center's leaders.

Is that your Ghandi x Lenin fanfiction? A Bengali cookbook? An instruction manual for operating a stepwell?
It could be anything. There's no way to know.

American big tech companies and banks have taken a stance against the overturning of Roe vs. Wade.
They have announced they will provide aid to their workers that cannot afford to go to a legal state to have an abortion.

The crazy thing is there was a whole ass leak of what was going to happen, but the Democrats did almost nothing substantial in that timespan to stop Roe. vs Wade from being overturned. lol

Well, there was an attempted assassination of Kavanaugh.

That's cool and I applaud them for providing that benefit.

What's disturbing though is - who's in charge? The government or the corporations?  Many aspects of modern mega corps are de facto government roles... maybe we will end up with Shadowrun (sans the magic)?

There was not, unless you're talking about something other than that one guy in distress that turned themselves while a large distance away from the blighter.

The closet thing we've had to an attempted assassination of a SCOTUS judge in recent history was the fucker that murdered a district judge's kid and shot their husband that was gunning for Sotomayor.

Not sure if this more appropriate for "random thoughts" thread or here... but I wonder, has anyone tried making an "AI" (yes yes I know the current state of the art) that tries to generate "optimal" court rulings?  Instead of, oh, I dunno, trying to get optimal advertising or something annoying like that?

I wonder how you'd avoid bias in such a thing.

For example, this case would be weighing states rights, women's rights, value of life, burden of care, propensity of a law to have loopholes or otherwise be misused, etc. etc.

One interesting thing is the history of corporate power. It experiences a gradual rise from the 18th to the 19th century until you have companies like the EIC or VOC being geopolitical powers in their own right or ones like the National African Company deciding to annex Sudan or Niger. Then you get the postcolonial giants of the 20th century that establish their alliances with democratic or fascist governance, setting up banana republics and turning politics into a revolving door of handshakes and handjobs between blue bloods. Ere the 21st century megacorps arise, it's somewhat saddening then that the notion of a company abrogating the duty of government doesn't seem to be an exception to the rule, but the rule itself enforced

I mean, good luck getting an unbiased person to write it, and also an unbiased system for it to operate in ;-;

Would be nice to be able to just hit an objectivity button, though. As it stands, such a thing would simply be an extension of the beliefs of it's creator.
