That sounds gay. It's not. It's fucking terrifying.

Olin isn't fucking around this time. He knows it'll take more punishment than a BDSM expo in a tornado made out of serrated blades. So he hits it until the head is mush. Then he hits the body until it's got a soupy texture too. When he's done, it doesn't look like a cat. It looks like a fucking meat puddle.

Chief Medical Dwarf's Report on Flame Chaosbane

When he was dragged in here, he looked like he shouldn't be alive. He was all rotten inside and out. We cut out the rotten tissue. We hoped that he could at least live as a cripple rather than die. But after only two weeks, he woke up! He dragged himself out of bed with his one arm. He dragged himself out of the gate. Then he stood up, walked the rest of the way to his sword, and picked it up. Then he went back to training.

He is a god.

Not much has happened since the voidspawn invasion. Lots of cleanup. There were a few migrants. My trainee became an axelord. A jeweler mooded and crated a statue of a human being killed by a giant cougar. A lot of animals have been dying from a combination of void rot and forgotten beast poisoning. A small group of goblins attacked, but immediately ran when they saw me. Several of our bards have applied for full citizenship.

However, it is the end of the year, and traditionally the time to pass control. May the next overseer not ruin what I have made.

In a lapse of sanity I have decided to download and play it. Opening DF right now.
Edit: Used the "clean all" command to keep Df alive long enough for me to play it.
Edit2: Getting 20 fps, not too bad.

Ah, the beloved Deathgate tradition of framerate droppage.

I thought it was remarkably good for a Deathgate successor. Then I realized we have like a hundred dwarves and it's only 5 years in. It's going to get worse. A lot worse.

Only hint I'm giving is that our Voidgod became a Ghostly Voidgod

He's died at least once before. During my turn he lost some teeth and then became horrified at his own death.

That's fine. As long as you get done eventually, the fort will stay alive.

Prologue
The mayor was speaking to the rest of the citizens:
"Citizens of Slaughterhelm, I know that our previous overseer never designated who to take over after their term was up, but we have a new volunteer... Auze!"
The crowd was confused, as there was no one named Auze, neither living nor dead. There was not even a voidspirit named Auze, or anything of that sort. The next day, however, they found that something was designating things to be done, and placing in orders for the manager to submit. Then, a few people began to feel as if there was a voice in their head. While sleeping that same day, a select few dwarves saw in their dream [a single human surrounded by darkness saying the following:
"Hello, my name is Auze, and this is my fortress. Now, let us begin."

Dangerous. Read rule 2.5 in the OP. Alternatively, read the ending of Deathgate or Murdermachines.
