This is a lot of gold guys.

For reference, the largest deposit of a single type of stone around here is microcline and there is 500k. I have almost as much gold as I do microcline.

Still too much gold.

Assuming bottom of the map is at -18 and top is at 174, you could build 40x40 solid gold stairway from hell to heaven and still probably plate the surface and all 3 caverns with gold floor on a 4x4.

Or you could wall off flat 16x16 embark with 8 tiles thick walls 15z tall.

I have a large structure to plate.

Also, I somehow have not found any gold within the 1st and 2nd cavern layers.

I'm going to find some kind of gold-as-a-layer glitch I just know it.

That -11..104 I think indicates that the gold vein started above your current cursor location (likely at the embark wagon), which implies the mountain.  It's likely part of a different biome than where you are digging, which is why you haven't found anything yet in your current descent.

Hmm. I do have two biomes, but I checked both. The mountain biome is only 4-5 tall, its a small portion of the map.

I'm actually not sure where I eventually checked prospect at. I had already played the map for a bit before I got curious.

There's also surface magnetite. It's quite the embark.
