Question about werepeople.
« on: March 14, 2017, 09:39:05 pm »

I know that if a werecreature bites a dwarf and the dwarf survives that dwarf becomes a werecreature of that type.

But what happens if my dwarfs bite the werecreature in the course of the fight? Do they also get the curse?

If nobody knows I might be about to find out.

Well, were curse is only transfered to non-night creatures, and if a creature is not in wereform it can't pass on its curse.

Fairly sure it won't happen.

I've had my dwarves bite werebeasts plenty of times, including the situation where a recently bereaved mother bit a werepanda to death. The dwarves who survive biting werebeasts and haven't been bitten themselves do not become werebeasts.

Werecreatures are not people.

They are test subjects.

Also it definitely will not happen, its not a venom or blood-based transfer, it is the actual act of biting that activates the interaction.

Another question: Does the curse transmit to animals when they are bitten by a werebeast and survive?

As far as I understand it's limited to sapients.

I think all animal people have chance to get it, but I don't know for a fact so don't quote me on it.

I know animal people can. What happened was that a werelizard came, got into a fight with wildlife, which appeared in announcments before she was seen by dwarves.

I ordered them to go hide in the mine. While they were running, they saw werelizard slay some more animals (this time after the "Now you know why you fear the night"), bite a camel and turn back into a fish woman blowgunner.

I sent the militia after her, but she was too fast, so I at least had the camel slaughtered, so it does not transform next month.

Now I know I did not have to do the last part.

So a lizard person can become a werelizard: 3 parts lizard to 1 part human?

Also, if you ever figure out why poets/bards/dancers just randomly start butchering people/getting butchered, please don't fix it, I love never knowing when a dance party will turn into a slaughter.

Well, any mammalperson or reptileperson can become were(the animal they are based on), not just lizardpeople.

Like an elephantman wereelephant.
