Even better is when you have multiple biomes, go around the aquifer and breach it from below. Easy mode!

Hard to get multiple biomes in a single tile, though.

Let's have a vote: Disable aquifers, or pump through them?

Can I also sign up for a turn?

As for the embark, I'd set priorities as: extreme cliffs, any military grade metal ore, aquifer. In that order. Having aquifer in an embark with extreme cliffs gives you much more options than traditional pump method. Building a ledge on the cliffs to get below, or if it is below the cliffs you have lots of material to cave in... It's a nice challenge rewarding you with a convenient source of water. I'm willing to take breaching the aquifer as my responsibility, if you don't want to deal with it. Or aquifer can be dropped in favour of a brook/stream/river.

Other parameters, such as savagery, biome, evilness/goodness, amount of trees and other vegetation, temperature (although temperate and colder gives you another option to deal with aquifer) and neighbours are not affecting my preference, I'll be content with whatever.
