Defending a Failing Civ, Migrants and their Pets
« on: March 04, 2017, 04:22:56 pm »

I have about 150 fully tame cave crocodiles and giant cave toads.  If I allow them as pets, retire the fortress, and start a new fort, will the migrants that come from my past fort come with their awesome pets too?

Try. It's the only way to find out. Even if they don't, they will further the goals of dwarvenkind as "guardians" of the previous fort, bolstering the population.

I'm not an expert on the political climate but I'm pretty sure that politicians don't join armies and invade dwarven fortresses.

If your last fort was the mountainhome and the animals were adopted, I think they should. But to be sure you should do some !!science!!

None of the toads or crocs got adopted as pets.  No dwarf had a creature preference for either of them, if that matters.  In my next fort Ill assign everyone a war-trained working animal.

I retired the fort and visited it.  The toads and crocs were roaming everywhere, which I hope will help with defense.  Legends log of battles dont show that animals take part though.

Presumably if you went into adventure mode and killed everyone but the dogs in one Civ, then did the same but with cats to whatever Civ it might be at war with.

That's in theory of course.

Got to make sure one dog and one cat becomes a historical figure.
