A table of possible things Shef could have been doing or soon could be doing when everyone else is at school. Also gives everyone else an idea of possible career options. Available means he could have been doing this already, Unlocked means he's recently opened it up as an option.

Occupation
    Affiliation
    Availability
    Details

Exterminator
    Demonslayer's Society
    Available
Aramitama aren't the only threats that plague Sendo, their servants, rogue bioweapons once used to hunt them down, and just rando Mononoke lurk in the shadows. This is basically just, population control. Culling down pockets of threats before they get any funny ideas or if they get a bit too murder happy.

Instructor
    Demonslayer's Society
    Unlocked
Remember when you went wrist-deep in that maid? Yeah it's that, just full-time. Training up greenhorns and getting them used to the Awakened world.

Weapons Developer
    Foundry
    Available
Shef's background is more in mundane weapons development, but the thought process and skills are easily transferrable to the field of designing more blatantly supernatural implements. Plus just because magic is involved doesn't mean physics and engineering goes straight out the window either, a magic gun is still a gun, and someone's gotta help make it.

Acquisitions Negotiator
    Foundry
    Available
Sometimes something does something really really naughty. Like, vivisecting babies and going on killing sprees. Usually they wind up dead, but sometimes, sometimes either on the side or directly because of these atrocities they wind up coming up with something Foundry wants. Some piece of tech or the like. In cases like this Acquisitions gets involved. Amnesty for technology, that's the basic deal. Those deals in the aftermath of WWII with Nazi and Japanese scientists? Yeah, same kinda gig. A cool head and an open mind are needed.

Cleaner
    Knights Templars
    Available
Look, sometimes a murderous robot beats a werewolf monster to death with a newborn baby, sometimes some psycho rams a third-story sex store with a boat, and when our good friends at the police department come to investigate, they'll get very very confused. So someone has to come along assess the impact and *ahem* tastefully arrange the crime scene so they come to some nice sensible conclusion rather than creating fifty gazillion unsolved cases that make no goddamn sense.

Greaser
    SpecProv
    Available
No one likes bureaucracy, but it's something that you just have to deal with, like gravity, and taxes. Thing is, the mundane and the supernatural often don't see eye-to-eye on certain things, like why SpecProv needs all this money, or why a little girl is collecting paychecks from Kumon Industries, or why it's vital everyone evacuate this area right fucking now. This is where greasers come in, they're people like Shef, people with certain, mind-altering abilities that help push through things that really do need to get pushed through.

Consultant
    SpecProv
    Available
Your standard consulting gig, just y'know with more supernatural bullshit and stranger stakes. There's your security stuff, your organized crime stuff, but there's also trying to pass someone off as an prepubescent girl so he can avoid an arranged marriage.

Courier
    SpecProv
    Available
Y'know, that thing Satoshi does? Ever watched The Transporter?

███████████
    Your Harem
    Unlocked
Well you've got a harem now and the ladies seem to be fine with each other's presence so...

I'm gonna say Shef has probably been doing work Acquisitions Negotiation, and Greaser work on the side of main combat, at least up till now.

That last option got me

Also, I know you meant the last one to be something else but I can't help but imagine it as basically Shef's Angels

This game is no longer accepting players I'm afraid.

It’s fine, I’m already watching the IC thread. I don’t think I watch enough anime to make a character here anyway

This was discussed as a possible development path for Shef, so figured it's worth dumping it here. It's also something the Unflappable Shinobi dipped into.

Surgeon's Eyes
Regalia-like eyes first expressed by a clan of eye surgeons. Enhances perception and magic detection. Manifests as red eyes when active with a thin ring around the pupil and tomoe symbols resting on the ring. At Level 1 there is one tomoe, at Level 2 two, at Level 3 three. At higher levels one's hands and magic becomes steadier and one's bedside manner improves allowing more unruly patients to be wrangled with greater efficiency.

Surgeon's Eyes, Veil Piercer Mode
Eyes that have perceived death. An additional mode for the Surgeon's Eyes that is only unlocked by witnessing death and loss, traditionally understood to be the loss of one's patient. Veil Piercer Mode catches a glimpse beyond death into the depths of Akasha and draws power from within it granting a single new ability, often of esoteric properties. This mode is rather taxing to use however and is thus normally kept reserved for emergency situations. Surgeon's Eyes instantly advances to Level 3 if has not reached that state already. Additionally, the user becomes capable of manifesting an aura-based exoskeleton to assist in their duties. In this mode, the eye design changes to have a pattern with rotational symmetry around the pupils.

Surgeon's Eyes, Perfected Veil Piercer Mode
Sight that surpasses sight itself. It can only be obtained by performing a full eye transplant on one's self completely unassisted. For most of Godslayers, this would mean a double eye transplant in a single operation. This completely decouples Surgeon's Eyes from one's own eyes, allowing it to be used through other visual-like sensing mechanisms including optic sensors and the like and reduces the drain of keeping Veil Piercer active to negligible levels. The Veil Piercer pattern typically mutates at this stage.

So firstly, while applying the swimsuit was embarrassing removing it proves to be downright mortifying. Probably because this time around you're going from dressed (however questionably) to being full-on butt-naked. And yes, the removal process also involves a spray, it's too much of a pain getting it off of you otherwise, but surprisingly that knowledge doesn't make the whole "getting your swimsuit dissolved by a spray" experience any better.

With that out of the way (thank god), and Patricija's attire similarly reverted (unfortunately) you group up with Kouta (who isn't blood-related) and Ren and head on over to the quest hub.

The hub itself is this cavernous chamber with black polished floors and decorative magic circles. Quest pylons ride from the ground around a large central statue. The pylons let you sign up quests, completed one's are turned in either at the desk (manned by a human skeleton) or at a designated location. Most of the adventurers AR browsing or off to the side at the cozier looking lounges eating and chatting.

Browsing through the available quests, you identify three that don't sound too risky or menial.

Shef
You are standing on one side of a Keijo platform. On the other side are four Storm Mind MkIIIs. Units 01 and 02 are armed with gatling guns. Units 03 and 04 are armed with silver greatswords.

Units 03 and 04 take to the skies, hovering upwards as their blades twirl faster and faster. 03 sweeps its beam across the platform aimed right for you, 04 sweeps its beam perpendicular. It's going to use the ensuing explosions to cover the approach.

Units 01 and 02 charge up their thrusters. Unit 01 is waiting to see how you react to the beam and going to dash across the platform in a burst of speed aiming to slam you with its weapon. Unit 02 doesn't wait and instead immediately launches itself into a flanking position.

He would isolate them figuratively. Shef tucked down into a crouch, sheltering behind the makeshift cover of a portal that would hopefully block the incoming beams and possible attack of the first unit. He'd focus his offensive attentions on the flanking unit, firing regular rounds first, followed by a manipulator if that seemed feasible.

Portal to block, open fire on the flanking unit, follow up with a manipulator if there's a reasonable chance of the hit.

Shef
Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)

You open your portals, breaking the beam just enough that you're spared its explosive wrath, locking onto 02 as it dashes. Velocity is not a problem, so long as you can physically move your arm fast enough (which is typically the case at range) you can hit, it's acceleration that messes things up and in these dashes the acceleration is only at the start and end. You nail them with a round to the side, ablative plating scattering from its left arm. Your followup comes as its dash terminates, slamming a Manip round into the weakened plating.

01 has dashed behind you. It's not going to dash straight into a portal you just opened so it dashes behind you (formerly to your right but you've turned left to face 02). Its gatling screams with a distorted whir and the promise of coming violence. 02 is dashing towards you, aiming to pay you back for that strike.

03 sweeps its beam at you again and 04 is waiting in the wings to catch you if you falter.

Shef swiftly ordered the temporary thrall into action, prompting a reckless charge at it's former allies rather than himself. For now, he'd deal with the ranged units.

Command the manipulator'd unit (02) to engage the other charging unit (01). Assist this with a portal to allow the unit to charge it's new target, and follow the unit through the portal to avoid the beam sweep. Open fire on the third unit.
