Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: Brothers in Arms]

"...Are you feeling okay Shef?"

Faith takes a step back and where she once stood a guillotine slams down, exploding with lightning. Her shield shatters on the initial storm of electricity, protecting her, but then Jason crashes into the ground and collide into her, shoving her through the densely packed arcs, shocking her over and over again. With her poor defences, Faith is not looking too good.

As he tumbles, the wounded Aramitama tosses aside his revolver, and brings his machete up in an arc, parrying Noriko's spear. With that same motion he grasps the shaft of the weapon with his now-free hand and jams it through the roof of the train trying to restrain it, trying to by himself more time as a suit of armor, burning with lightning and leyline alike explodes towards him.

For the briefest of moments, he looks down at the spear, at the train, once-steady hands almost shaking as he recites something, a mantra of some sort, but the words never reach his foes, the words stolen by the thunder. Brandishing his blade, he spins around bringing it to bear as to blunt and counter the boy's imminent attack. Sparks traced by his movement rise and multiply forming another whirlwind one so powerful it almost rivals the guillotine's aftermath.

"Quick! While he's distracted! Blast a path out and run!"

Not only did she have the misfortune of feeling the Aramitama simply slam into her, bolt after bolt of electricity ran into Faith, and more than anything she felt a scream rip itself out of her throat as the shock coursed throughout her body. Her courage and optimism had been flagging on and off for this entire fight, but the pain coursing through Faith had done a pretty good job at shattering it into pieces, and when that happened something evidently snapped for Faith. Raising a shaking arm, the American girl let out another scream and blasted the Aramitama with magic -- however, this magic was purple, rather than the red and gold of her usual magic, and a raw, angry burst more than anything else, the wave of magic flying towards the evil spirit and his whirlwind.

She began shouting in English, her words laced with frustration and anger and pain. <"F-fuck you, fuck you, enough is enough, fucking chasing and attacking us again and again, and trying to kill people, and now this, I won't TAKE this any more, fuck you, fuck you, fuck you, I'M GONNA KILL YOU!"> Tears gathered in the corner of her eyes as she shouted and made her attack -- that switch of emotional magic within her had finally had enough stress and anguish to flip, and in that moment trying to act all brave and cheerful through the pain really wasn't looking as attractive.

Faith blasts the Aramitama with Desperation Break, hopefully hitting his whirlwind of magic (but not Minato)

Noriko was doing her best to ignore the fact that she'd probably broken something and that most people would be incredibly dead in her situation. The bastard was summoning another whirlwind, the same kind that had been screwing with her and everyone else in the group again - though predictably it was even worse than the previous attempts. Well, wind was HER gimmick, and she was going to show him. Enough with this nearly killing her and her friends shit.

The wind began to pick up, howling to drown out even more sound than it had been previously. This wind, though, wasn't whirling around the Aramitama; it came from behind Noriko and where she still clung to the train in a position vaguely resembling a sprinter preparing for a race. It only brushed against her allies, seeming to push the gale coming from the false god back and replacing it with a gentle caress. For Jason, however, it became a cruel razor, slashing at him and aiming to blow him off his feet, cutting away at the forces he tried to veil himself with.

Vayvayastra focused on getting rid of Jason's whirlwind, alteration to 4, gib resolve to our healer

Minato wrenches himself off the ground, his body ravaged by the energies of the leyline, barely making it in time just to see the Aramitama clash with Faith, electrocuting her with as much energy as he could muster. He slumps to the ground- whether it was from pain and fatigue or the realization that his friend had gotten hurt and he'd failed, he didn't know.

Faith was in danger.

Faith was hurt.

He'd screwed up. He'd let the Aramitama get to her.

He'd failed.

The boy clenches his fist, pulling himself to his feet with sheer will, lowering his hand towards his belt again. Her screams ripped through the air, keener than the grunts and moans of the rest of the group.

For some reason, Faith's pain enraged Minato, suffusing his being with fury. His blood boiled, his mind rushing at light speed.

Then clarity, and then reason.

Perhaps it was because, at the heart of it, Faith and the Aramitama were playing out a tale as old as time, one that Minato had seen many times before.

The strong beating around the weak. Schoolyard bullies and weaker students or Aramitama on unawakened Godslayers; it didn't matter to Minato, both were fundamentally the same, and both enraged him. The strong had no right to oppress the weak; the weak had the right to live untouched and unharmed. His family had taught him this much; to do the right thing, to protect those who need to be protected from those who would do them harm.

This was why he'd become a hero. To protect the little guy. To hunt the hunters. To do the right thing.

The Aramitama were for the most part nothing but glorified bullies, preying upon those unfortunate enough to be weak and stumble upon their hidden world. And so Minato became the Masked Knight to protect them and humanity from their predators.

Faith was still alive; hurt, but alive, and the Aramitama was rounding on her to try to finish her and everyone else.

Not on my watch.

Minato pulls himself to his feet, wrenching his belt open once more, gathering what little energy he had left to try and resist the leylines for just a moment longer. Just enough to finish the job.

Just enough to protect Faith.

"Didn't....didn't you pay attention? I'm your opponent, you bastard, so fight....with....ME!"
Minato Dai-Henshins once more, spawning a shield in front of him to take out the blade by first parrying the blade and then exploding it out of the way with his shield, using the combination of the explosion temporarily moving the sword away and his momentum to get into a vulnerable spot, before summoning another sword to drive it deep into his vulnerable side with all his might.

God, why was this fight so damn hard? Yoake was, frankly, fed up with this state of affairs, but knew in her weakened state she had to make whatever she did count.

Running towards Jason, Yoake shouts "I think... we could all benefit.. from a little space!", as she leaps into a spin, and performs Interstellar Butt, aiming to end up right next to Jason, slamming into him.

Yuki was really in no shape at all to do anything about this - she wanted to just f-ing charge in and chainsaw Jason's face off. Buuuut she also knew that that was a very stupid idea. So she just heals the person most likely to need it in the next ten seconds.

Gib Yoake heal so she doesn't f-ing die. Unless Noriko gives a Resolve point, in which case heal everyone. And then abuse the shield to charge in after the aoe has thinned and CHAINSAW DAT BASTARD IN THE FUCKING FACE

"I'm fine. Do we have anything scheduled for the rest of the week?" Shef muttered. He had nothing to really do, so he moved himself a bit farther down the train car, to hopefully a better vantage point. Then he waited.

Back away a bit, and twiddle fingers.

Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: Brothers in Arms]

The storm twists and expands, assailed with cutting wind in front, and burning sorceries from behind, a bubble of blinding light being crushed in a vice. Humungus by himself may be stronger, may be faster, may be tougher, but there was no doubt, not even for a second, who the superior mage was. And in the split second before the bubble crumbled, the mere moments before it was consumed, Minato and Jason clashed.

The shield, cracked even now was raised and forced forwards, its edge striking the bottom of the blade, just above its wielder's hand and detonating. And for the first time this fight, the Aramitama staggers backwards, reeling from the blast. Seeing a chance, Minato rushes in for the kill when catches his throat. Jason's right hand, holding a machete no longer slams into the boy's throat, the momentum lifting him upwards as lightning explodes out from the false god's hand, coursing through his body.

There is a moment after the hit, where your mind is still reeling. You may be trained in combat, you may carry your weapons and hold your pride, but you are nothing more than an ape, a very clever ape perhaps, but an ape nonetheless. In that moment, in the pain and shock, instinct kicks in. Instinct tells you to block, to break stance, to move away from the pain, just like any animal. You're disoriented, still paralyzed from the blow, and so you obey. You backpedal, you block, and they see weakness. They chase you down, you fall, and then, they destroy you. That moment, between the hit landing and your mind recovering, can decide a fight.

That, does not happen here.

[Now Playing: Seigi Shikkou]

A smile.

A hand closes around Jason's arm.

Another drives a sword through his heart.

And where the rippling air and purple blast met, a flash of golden light joined them.

Jason dashes. He can't escape the the attacks, but he can minimize their damage, escape the worst of it, try and regain his momentum from there. He may be unsteady on his feet, he may not be able to stop his dash too well, but he can still dash.

He moves quickly, with such speed that he seemingly teleports... five inches.

There was something blocking his sight. Some sort of obstacle, something that wasn't there before.

It was a butt.

He may have been fast, but Yoake was faster, and she had read him like a book.

You know in anime there's just these massive explosions and when the smoke clears the guy's still standing?

Well fuck that shit, Yuki just charges straight through it chainsaw swinging wildly, and as she came out the other end, she was sure she hit something.

As the train exits the tunnel, a great tempest blooms. Beams of lightning not unlike that of Jason's initial assault erupt from the ground, spiralling outwards, great arcs of electricity lash out indiscriminately, sparks saturate the air, and ball lightning begins to spontaneously precipitate. The entire train is illuminated with St. Elmo's fire as the tempest blooms.

And it, is expanding.

In its center you see Jason, he's well, he's certainly not standing. He's collapsed on the ground, his legs are broken, he's missing an arm, and not much of that mask remains, but he's still alive, still fighting.

How persistent. Pointless, but persistent.

"Nothing I can foresee. Why? Planning on having some 'me' time?"

"Yes. I need a drink with our mutual friend. You mind scheduling that?" Shef rolled his shoulders, and raised his gun to sight on Jason's chest, and fired a few times. A storm of lightning might affect aim, but it shouldn't actually deflect the bullets, or so Shef expected.

Shoot at the Aramitama, with a 2.

"Why don't you just FUCKING DIE ALREADY!?" Noriko pulled herself to her feet as she spoke, lifting her hand up into the air (and very nearly scraping it against the tunnel roof) to catch the incoming spear and then brought it smashing forward and downward. Her spear grew once more, and then flew directly toward Jason's heart. After doing so, Noriko stood there with an angry expression on her face for a moment before promptly collapsing where she stood, barely managing to maintain a sitting position.

Vasavi Shakti, alteration to 5.

Faith wasn't done, and her shouting raised in volume... and in speed, so that though anyone with moderate knowledge of the language could pick up a few words, one would have to be pretty good to understand the whole thing, Faith shouting and ranting with tears gathering in her eyes, a particular function of her magic ensuring that her emotional train was far more likely to hit a collision than to slow down gradually.
<"So much, there is so much, so much that happens to me! There's Dad, and then there's the assholes at school, and then I finally get a chance to fucking escape, FINALLY it looks like I might have things under control, AND THEN THIS ALL HAPPENS! THEN YOU SHOW UP and IT'S THE FINAL STRAW! GO TO HELL AND DIE!">
A purple, needle-like spear of negative emotion magic coalesced in Faith's hand, rather packed with powerful energy, and Faith takes a bound towards the Aramitama to ensure she doesn't miss before hurling it at him!
Piercing Insecurities! Alteration to a 5! It would be optimal if it hit before Vasavi Shakti!

Yuki just... stands back, and lets the others do their work. She'd rather not get blasted trying for a last hit bonus or whatever, as cool as it would be. Yuki does heal the injured Minato though - might as well. She's more concerned though, about Faith - she can't understand every word, but understands enough and understands the tone enough to be really worried.

Spoiler: Rolls (click to show/hide)
[Now Playing: Seigi Shikkou]

"Consider it done."

With a furious yell, Faith lunges into the tempest unleashing her spear of energy, the clusterfuck of lightning parting in its wake as it pierces Jason's heart. The wound glows with the same angry purple as her spell, bright lines tracing out from the wound, all across his body, or at least, what remained of it illuminating it for an instant. Gunshots ring out, Shef's bullets punching holes in the false god's head and torso, and then comes Noriko's spear.

Needless to say it proves to be fatal.

Light shines from his breaking core, radiant rays ripping outwards, dispelling his broken form. You hear something shatter. And then, he's gone, his storm with him.

All that remains are shards, fragments of some ineffable thing, that float and scatter to each of you.
