Cavern floor and trees?
« on: March 24, 2017, 05:50:05 pm »

Im trying to do a cavern fort, and I have a question about cavern floors.
It seems like everytime I cut a tree in the caverns the tile with the trunk will turn into a rock cavern floor instead of mud. These tiles seem to be absolutely useless for farming and pastures.

Will grass ever regrow over them? I've been watching over them for two seasons and it seems like it won't. Does someone know for sure?

If there's neither mud nor soil nothing will grow. You can, however, create mud yourself by pouring water on the tile (either pond dumping or flooding will do).

And, just be be a smartass, you'll only get grass if you mine away the roof so the floor is exposed to the sky, else you get moss (assuming you muddied it first)...

Yep, I also recommend flooding your intended farm area. You only need to do it once.

Alright thanks for the answers!

Guess I'll flush the cistern into the caves then.

And I know you didn't ask, but I'll still advise you not to mine directly under the cavern floor.  If you do then cutting trees leaves holes.
