There's a regional interaction that revives and heals any sentient creature that dies.

Wait... if you do this, that means that when these creatures die, they come back to life. Makes sense. But here is the important question: if you chopped off a dwarf limb, and then the dwarf reanimated, would his limb fully heal as well? And if so, could you chop off a forgotten beast limb and get infinite forgotten beasts?
I plan on making it so that any part of a creature can heal into the whole creature. So if a dwarf gets three teeth knocked out, each of those teeth can be a backup dwarf if he burns to death. However, there can only be one living version of any creature. So no infinitely multiplying creatures and especially no multiplying FBs, since FBs aren't sentient. Can you imagine having a sheep or something that you could butcher infinitely?

I can see cage traps and magma being big parts of the fort.

Wait, does that mean we could build something like a tomb, full of body parts to be regrown when each individual died? We could find the strongest and best dwarves and use them to build a regenerating militia, if only there were an easy way to extract teeth. That's probably not how it works, but if it did, that'd be cool as hell.

That would be a good plan. That way you have a backup even if a dwarf burns. Keep in mind: the goblins regenerate too. That's why this is a challenge fort and not a complete cakewalk.

Another idea; Infinite duel arena. Constantly regenerating combatants in some huge Colosseum.

Look, I might be the founder but I don't have control over what the players make. These are all good ideas, but save them for the thread. Better yet, found the fort yourself. I'll even PM you the revival interaction.

Wow, so an entire fort where everyone is trapped in this miserable life, unable to permanently escape, and dying over and over again, praying that they eventually find a way to finally, finally rest.

If they go insane and die, will they come back to life still insane, or will their thoughts be deleted?

They'll regain their sanity but not their happiness. They're free to go mad again at any time. The worst thing, though, is that they retain their curses. A werebeast infection could spread through the whole fort.

You know what, fuck it, I'm making the fort. I'm bored and this looks like something I should do before the idea gets taken.

Since there is a comunist fortress, i am curious to see how an anarcho capitalist would be.

Yay! I was mentioned. XD Now there's socialist fortress, comrades! Because communist fortress ground to halt once workers stopped digging below z-level 99 for some reason. >:1 Although there won't be a post in Blightmurder until the end of this week. College is kicking my rear faster than clowns go through an unprepared fortress with every citizen around the hole.

New idea.

Instead of a succession game, its a succession world parameters idea.

How this idea work:

A advanced world parameter is posted at the thread.

Users can get the latest advanced parameter and change 3 values (X and Y map size count as separated values) and post back at the thread.
Rules:
1-You must wait at least 1 week after you post a modified world generation parameter, before you post another at the thread.
2-You can't modify your own parameter, so if the latest parameter was posted by yourself you will need to wait, until someone post it.

So how the world will be generated will be shaped by the community.

PS: There is not need to post After Action Report, in the thread. You do anything you want with your modified world parameter.

I'm in a mood to start a new fort.  Any good ideas?

I'm thinking Game of Thrones again.

North evil biome and freezing.
Make a wall made of bucket brigade ice.
South good biome , build a castle made of obsidian.

Not so much of an idea, but a low pop-cap fort like Archcrystal might be interesting.

A big problem with succession forts is that later turns become exponentially longer due to FPS death and overall complexity. By restricting dwarf counts, framerate is kept high and turn durations can be made shorter (maybe 1 week instead of 2) so the game doesn't die off as quickly.
