Hi. New guy here, I'd like to join if possible. I have only basic experience with DF but you said it's for new comers? If that's fine, sign me up.

Journal of Ryukan, 14th of Granite, 150

So get a load o' this will ye. I'm layin on me bed in my room in the great fortress of Riddledring and next thing I know, I hear my door opened and I get set upon by several figures, before I can fight back, I'm bound gagged and have a bag thrown over me poor head. I try struggling, but am rewarded with a sharp hit to da head which knocks me cold out. I wake up on a wagon trudging along, pulled by two mule and accompanied by six other dwarves.

I sit up and me heads starts throbbin and the dwarves notice me poor self. I get handed a canteen of sweet wine and after a refreshing swig, I inquire as to what the hell is going on. I gets told that my compatriots were shown the same treatment as meself. The wagon was set on a path and a note left by our attackers revealed that we were exiled from the kingdom and had to fend for ourselves.

I take a moment to look through our inventory.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Fairly standard stuff, I also take notice of a cat in the wagon with us

I also look at our outpost permit that we were provided with:

..... something tells me we aren't very liked by certain politicians for some reason....

After weeks of travelling our wagon wheel breaks and we end up in the middle of the Goodlands. I look at our maps and luckily this area was heavily prospected years ago and we have detailed records about this area that say there is abundant metal and flux.

Well, time to start digging, Armok help us.

Scourge, after standing up speaks for the first time since he woke up on the wagon. "If any of you hurt this cat, may the starcats have mercy on your souls, because I won't".

EDIT: (If we are claiming dwarves I would like to be a miner)

Work is killing my schedule, but I'll get around to updating the op when I have time on my computer and not my phone.

As for the Spring udate, expect it Sunday... tomorrow

Searching out some succession games, please add me to the queue. Something to pass the time with people over the summer would be nice.

May I have a turn? I can't guarantee that I'll be free during it, but I'll try. My turn will probably end up being short, however.

The mayor is pondering reproductive behaviour again.
At least it is not in the middle of an invasion like last time.
