Hallo Everyone

I am inside a mountan and I found tons of Obsidian, but there is no magma. Can this be or do I search at the wrong place? Edit: I have mined a lot. I do not have magma, therefore it is possible to have lots of Obsidian but no magma.

I now hacked some magma (dfhack -> source add magma) but I cant build a magma smelter, what do I do wrong? Edit: solution: In DFHack: 'feature list', then 'feature show number'. Then I was able to build magma smelter!

You need to find the magma sea, at the bottom of the map.

Sometimes, a magma tube is some levels above magma sea, but except in a volcano, magma tubes never reach the surface.
If you had used the maps in legends mode to find a "High volcanism" area, you have igneus extrusive layers in the surface, and igneus intrusive layers in the bottom, but lava tubes ignore volcanism.
