So, would it be feasible to get modified/upgraded tiger armor to all our troops, then get them all APCs and motorcycles so long term fatigue inst an issue?  Add a big ass tank and we should be able to invade the enemy homeland.

We can't really upgrade tiger armour any more; more plates means there's more weight on the trooper carrying it. Even if we revise the armour to be lighter it's still going to be a hindrance in regards to fatigue and mobility for our troops.

I think that if get our hands on titanium and use our QoL experience to make the armor more comfortable, distribute weight better, cover the legs, articulate the joints better, etc, we can get toger armor that sees wider usage

We can give some of our soldiers steroids so they can wear it easier.

Just adding my vote to the politics issue, since that's the only one with any disagreement.

There are several other issues with the armor, like the lack of armor on the lower legs and it gets in the way of firing a gun.

I guess it really is a tank we should concentrate on, right now, if we are going to help our ground combat.

For next turn:

Basic Idea: a Guided Missile package that can be deployed in defensive emplacements, or added onto existing vehicles like our Breaker or Salamander (much like their Raider's RPG). Gives us experience building guided missiles.

Quote from: Design
UF-TWR-40 'Saltseeker' Pattern A

Forenia's first step towards guided missiles and one-hundred seventy-fourth step towards better rockets, the United Forenian Tube-launched, Wire-guided, Remote-controlled 'Saltseeker' Missile is designed as a heavy anti-tank weapon that can be deployed via stationary infantry emplacements or appended to vehicle turrets.

Relying on a modified SARUKH rocket, the Saltseeker is launched via a disposable tube à la our Recoilless Rifles.  Eight fins lay flat until free of the tube, at which point they spring free to provide stability and control for the missile.  Four kilometers of braided steel-reinforced wire is spooled in the rear of the rocket which is dispensed as the rocket flies along.  This wire is connected to the control station which the operator uses a joy-stick to control the flight of the missile.  Rather than controlling roll and pitch like in a fighter plane, this joy-stick controls yaw and pitch instead.  This relatively simple programming is handled by the launcher rather than putting the control station in the missile.  The missile uses a small launch-motor to kick it free of the tube to prevent exhaust from frying the operator, and a small probe that extends outward from the tip to allow detention prior to striking a surface.  A small scope sight is an optional addition to the launcher, to allow more precise control at maximum range.

The Saltseeker is designed as a 'package' that can be installed on vehicles for a small additional cost.

We can totally do this - it's based off of the Malkara Missile which was developed between 1951 and 1954.  90% kill rate.  We have all the prerequisite tech.  It gives our tanks , salamanders, and defensive emplacements the extra punch to knock out enemy armor from long range.  It opens the door to AA missiles, Cruise Missiles, and if we do subs we'll want wire-guided torpedos or TASM missiles to hit enemy ships.

It is an investment with a real, present bonus that we have all the tech to pull off.

Wire-guided and radio-controlled missiles existed in WW2.  Hell, wire-guided torpedos existed before then, too.  We can do it!!!

Note that that 90% kill rate was in testing. "Accuracy achieved in practice was poor."

Still, that's a lot better than the X-7. It might be worth considering. I'd fully expect our first model to be shit, though, and only become worthwhile after a revision/new design.

So? Coat the fields with the things! Missiles in every bush! DRIVE PAROI OUT OF BUSINESS! IT'S PUT A MISSILE ON IT NOW, NOOBS!

Also, so what if it takes multiple turns? This would be a game-endingly powerful technology if done right (V1/V2s and our incendiary PTABs)

You're going to make a wire-guided V-2?

....

Foot in the door to guided missile technologies. A guided missile has control surfaces that can be directed from afar. Next is control surfaces directed from within. Then comes long-range ballistic-missile applications.

V1/2s weren't actually useful strategically. Their accuracy was too poor to hit military targets, they were only good for terror bombing. I suppose if damaging infrastructure becomes a thing, we could use them to bomb their cities to rubble to slow down their war machine... but I doubt it. We could control 3/4 of Cannala and their base resources would be the same- taking out one or two cities won't change that. Besides, you know, :WarCrimes:

We'd need transistors to create missiles accurate enough to be useful.

IT should be possible to make a heat-seeking missile without transistors. I wouldn't expect it to be all that agile, but against a large stationary target I could see it being extremely effective. Factories and power stations are large and hot and dropping a missle directly on a factory is preferable to carpet-bombing an entire suburb, and quite likely a different suburb than the one with a factory in it. A 3-tonne plane-launched missile with enough heat-seeking to correct into a hot building while it drops ought to be somewhat plausible, though vulnerable to flares. Alternatively we could have agile planes(Air-launched dive-bombers) shoot radar beacons while the heavy-lifters drop massive explosives from massive altitudes. The goal here would be to drop bombs that would be too large to be practical if they were not going to hit. To have things that would completely destroy a building's foundations rather than just clear out the furniture. If we could perfect the radar-beacon thing then they would be effective against airstrips, roads, bunkers and whatever else you have that needs two tonnes of armour-pircing explosives to give an engineering platoon a headache.
