TPD 'Shark' 42: The shark is a modern torpedo, derived from the dolphin aerial torpedo. Designed as a destroyer torpedo, it weights nearly 2 tonnes. The propulsion system has been left mostly unchanged, but scaled up significantly giving the torpedo far greater speed and dramatically better range. The magnetic fuse has been reworked, now detecting changes in magnetic fields rather than the magnetic fields themselves. Combined with back-up impact fuzes, this should render any future degaussing (which has troubled german torpedo designs) less effective.

The most important change however is the inclusion of a sound following guidance system. A set of sensors in front of the torpedo directs the torpedo to the nearest screw noise. Baffles ensure that the torpedo doesn't try to follow it's own noise, while an activation timer allows us to activate the sound guidance only once the torpedo nears the enemy. This all should allow the shark to be a very effective long range torpedo.

We need to stop reacting to them and make something new or copy their missile.

UFN-SUB-42 Killer Whale

An attack submarine based on plans for the German Type VII Unterseeboot.  Based around a diesel and electric engine combination and featuring both smaller radar and sonar technology.  It is designed as a torpedo submarine rather then a mine layer and features a thicker hull and greater crush depth.

Displacement:
770 tons surfaced / 880 tons submerged
Surface speed: 31 km/h
Submerged speed: 14 km/h
Maximum operating depth: 250 m (Crush Depth 270 m –330 m estimated)
Deck gun: one 90 mm Bumblebee gun
Anti-Aircraft Gun: 2-4 20 mm autocannons
Bow tubes: 3
Aft tubes: 1
Torpedoes (maximum): 16
Surface Engine: two supercharged 6 cylinder, 4-stroke diesels delivering 2,400 kW
Submerged Engine: two electric motors with a maximum output of 550 kW total
Medium Submarine armor

I dunno if we can just ignore it. Their design completely - completely - shuts down our Haast, Ice Giant, Lightning Streak, and Reckless Effect, and it eliminates our air superiority, air strikes, bombing runs, and paratroopers.  I know the philosophy of "innovate, don't react" is something we should strive for, but I feel like this might be the exception to the rule.  We lose so many turns of progress by saying "oh well" and building something other than a radio jammer.

A sub won't stop the major hemorrhage that their AAA is inflicting on our air force... That prox fuse of theirs hurts us greatly both at sea and land.

Would it be possible to spoof that proximity signal, rather than just jamming it with our tech level? The way I'm reading it, early designs relied on the strength of the reflected signal to detonate (and maybe the doppler shift of the signal to account for relative speed too). I guess the only question is if we can spoof the signal without reverse engineering the missile.

A thing to point out though is that their own air forces are going to be much more thinner than previously along with their armoured units.

And something for Sensei to remember: THey can't use those missiles offensively since they have no mobile launchers for them.. Which isd to say, we still have a definite advantage on the defence since those missiles can't be particularly long ranged and their launchers are in fixed positions.

They can mount them on their planes though?... Those are plenty mobile..

Their current fuses don't adjust for the Doppler Effect, and the Jammer prematurely acts to counter that potential innovation to reliability.  Plus, while the thing is a reactive measure to the current situation, it is a proactive measure to counter any future innovations they may try to squeeze out of the missiles, as the scalable nature of the Fair Fight allows us to mount it in any of our equipment without too much difficulty once it is completed.

The system can be scaled up almost infinitely by increasing the size of the antenna size and power source although,
Should also include an option to hook it up to existing vehicle power source, primarily thinking of ships here, which should have some really good power sources.

it becomes progressively less efficient the larger it gets.
Delet this. Let Sensei handle problems.

The antenna is meant to be mounted on the tail fins of our planes and, can also be mounted on our vehicles and ships easily.
I'd want another emitter on the belly of bigger planes, just to make sure regular AA doesn't hit us. The smallest option could probably be carried in like two backpacks too.
