Aluthadar Explained
By Darùd Cloakbrand

Written in the year 306.

The world, Aluthadar, has gone through many ages. This codex is to describe the ages and the current 6 civilizations of the world.

Ages

Before The Age of Myth

The Age of Birth
Beginning of Aluthadar to -2001. This is considered to be the first age. It was an age where the races were created and the world was more natural compared to nowadays. This was before the races united into civilizations. Humans built small villages of huts and primitive wells, dwarves built crude fortresses from caves, elves were spread far and wide across the forests, goblins lived in hollowed out stone pillars, and kobolds were but simple beasts. No demons were in the world at this time. The brewing of alcohol is believed to have originated in this age. In the early years of The Age of Birth, stone was what most tools were made of. By the end, however, the races were known to use bronze or even iron, though iron was rarely used, judging from archaeological expeditions.

The Age of Unity
-2000 to -1401. This was the second age of the world and it was especially important because civilizations began to develop! The races began to unify for survival and cities even came about, albeit in the later years of The Age of Unity. Mining began in this age, as the earliest digging implements closest to picks were described to be from around -1990, at least.  It has been said that this was the age demons came into the world and goblins began to serve them. Near the end of this age however, the origins to one of the largest empires in history were about to come into existence.

The Age of The Grand Empire
-1400 to -901. This was the age when a civilization of humans took most of the continent as their own. Archaeologists haven't found the name for this empire as of yet, so they are referred to "Ancients".  They paved the way for today's civilizations with their laws, culture, knowledge, and other such advancements. However, they were defeated by a gathered horde of bandits, who ransacked and burned a majority of the cities into ash.
After the loss of the empire of the Ancients (whose descendants are theorized to be the humans of The Shady Union, a majorly coastal civilization), Aluthadar fell into chaos...

The Dark Age
-900 to -1. This age led to barbarism everywhere, loss of knowledge, and war. Lots of war. Most records of this time period have become broken or have disappeared entirely, leaving little knowledge to this age. However, toward the end of the age, things began to settle down, more records of history were written (most of our knowledge of the Dark Age comes from its later years), and now, we reach more modern history...

Modern History

The Age of Myth
0 to 254. This age was when "living gods" and great beasts held much power in the world. This age ended with the slaying of the giant Nogu Dreadfist the Glutton of Pain in Timber of 254. They say carp were the monsters of the sea in this age. An explosion of culture came from this age. Colonies were sent out to previously uncharted lands, heroes were few and far between, and many modern celebrations originated from this age.

The Age of Legends
255 to 299. The shortest age to date. The powers that took hold in the Age of Myth began to die, and civilizations began to take the wild lands for their own. Heroes rose more often, a few of the colonies formed their own nations, and dragon bone decor became all the rage those days. But as the megabeasts and semimegabeasts fell, so did quite a few dwarven, elven, and goblin civilizations too...

The Twilight Age
300 to present. Many of the civilizations have fallen. About 6 civilizations are left. Knowledge is still expanding, while the dwarves, elves, and (thankfully) goblins are falling. As culture grows, the end of many of civilizations had come.

This concludes the explanation of Aluthadar's ages.

Civilizations

Humans: 2
Dwarves: 2
Goblins: 1
Elves: 1

Dwarves
The Teal Rope
Appearance: Fair-skinned, blue eyed, and with brown hair or rarely red hair. Their beards are left unstyled.

Culture: The dwarves of The Teal Rope have a distinct love for knowledge and trade, more so than any other dwarven civilization known in history! To satisfy their lust for trade, they are among the few dwarven civilizations to have a navy or even ships for that matter!

Sites: 23 (4 fortresses, 19 hillocks)

Capital: Mirrorreign

Ruler: King Solon the XXVI (Otherwise known as Solon the Wise or Solon Oarheart)

The Somber Palisade
Appearance: Pale taupe skin, jade eyes, blond hair. Their beards are braided into 4 braids.

Culture: They are isolationists for the most part, only allowing The Teal Rope as a trading partner. Many artifacts have been made by these dwarves of the deep.

Sites: 12 (1 fortress, 10 mountain halls, 1 hillock)

Capital: Chancecave

Ruler: Queen Rith the Mighty (Otherwise known as Rith Portalochre)

Elves
The Indigo Tempest

Capital: Snotmalice

Ruler: Omub Thiefbaits the Poisoned Salutes of Hexs (Humanoid feathered lizard with a venomous bite)

Humans
The Shady Unions
Appearance: Blond hair, tan skin, jade eyes.

Culture: The Shady Unions are filled with good food, hospitality, and crafts. This is surprising, as the name might say otherwise about their culture... The civilization has plenty of good spots for archaeologists to excavate and study artifacts from the Ancients.

Sites: 36 (5 towns, 31 hamlets)

Capital: Hotcups

Ruler: King Kopoh Legendbound

The Joyous Confederation
Appearance: Brown hair, fair skin, brown eyes.

Culture (in a nutshell): Very war-like, yet they love good parties and feasts.

Ships on DF, is this world settled on a new mod?

...
Goblins
The Curses of Branding
Appearance: Moss green hair, fair skin, brown eyes.

Culture: Typical tree-loving arrogant elven culture. <---------
Something's not right up here.

1. It's supposed to mix a bit of future DF into it.

2. Oops! Lemme fix that...
