Okay, status check. What injuries have our allies sustained, and are any of them particularly serious?

The peasant dwarf has an injury above his left eye. Probably minor, but I can say from personal experience they bleed copiously.
Is hemomancy any good for healing? Staunching a wound, at the very least? Time to find out.
The champion and goblin, I haven't seen anything to suggest they're wearing anything but splatter. (Specifically, the goblin was splashed when troglodyte blood started mysteriously spurting in her direction.)

There is at least one closed access door, while the one by which we entered remains open, so I'd say "more monsters" is a very real possibility. Crazy plan to bank for later?: the combatant doors appear to be 90° from each other, there could be a fourth one beneath the viewer's perspective. If something is released, there is an outside chance we can open that and hopefully get two 'bigger' opponents to fight each other.

After a polite discussion with local rivals, you have claimed the position of 'Champion of the Fortress'

Do the walls appear climbable?
Also, see if you can staunch your allies' wounds without moving your hand much.

Serious question - what could they throw at our little Kobold that doesn't run the risk of ending in disaster for the fortress we are currently stuck in?

The arena is open air. That means that anything that gets thrown into the arena has the ability to threaten the audience if given the chance, whether by flight, ranged attacks, or simply climbing if the walls aren't smoothed (which I suspect they are, but still). That means that anything with flight is out. Anything with a lethal ranged attack is out, and anything with a non-lethal one is probably out as well unless the audience doesn't mind getting sprayed with giant cave spider webs or whatever. Anything that can climb really well might be out, depending on what the walls are. Oh, and the arena is accessed by copper doors, so all Building Destroyers are out. Anything that is a major threat to a squad of experienced soldiers is probably out if the arena organizer is remotely sane. What does that leave that we couldn't beat fairly easily with our OP plz nerf knife/dodge/blood magic skillz?

That... is an excellent point. At least, the ranged-attack/flying bit is.

I don't think those are doors. They're described as copper walls that can slide in and out of the floor-- sounds to me like 1x1 bridges. So building-destroyer proof.

Dragons are (probably) out, and maybe giant cave spiders... but they could have any number of building-destroying critters in there. And as for the experienced soldiers, well, this fort seems to have very experienced soldiers, if our champ's anything to go by.

And of course, nothing we've seen here indicates the overseer being sane.  ;D

Oops forgot to mention you are now a competant hemomancer. I'll update the previous post before working on another update.

Won-der-ful!

At last we're skilled enough to do... uh... something. I don't know how hemomancy works.

To be fair, in the actual game there is no such skill, so its probably completely made up for this webcomic, other than the idea coming from... was it the MMMMod?
After you've done the rest of this, if you are still in the arena waiting for something to happen, practice subtly moving the blood around in the puddles.

Is this sand we're standing on? If so, try to make the blood soak into the sand faster. Nobody should notice, and it'd be nice to know how to push blood back inside things, for treating wounds and such.

I've been basing my suggestions for the hemomancer stuff off of the Spellcraft mod, which says hemomancer skills are: Blood minion, blood blob minion, blood projectile, bleed profusely. I'm sure anything else small is still perfectly doable for the comic though.

It looks like no one took any serious injuries. The gash on the dwarfs head is minor but bleeds quite a bit. You try slowing the bleeding with hemomancy but it has no effect.

There are five doors in total. Three of them are still closed.

Quick start flexing and strike a victory pose.

You are posing for the crowd when one of the doors opens. Standing in the tunnel are three trolls.

The front troll roars.

The trolls charge forward. The front one goes directly for the weapon rack and smashes it to pieces.

The +steel warhammer+ barely misses the dwarf.

The champion engages with one of the trolls.

He slashes it in the upper body.

Craig's fighting and dodging skills can be as unreliable as the story demands. It wasn't so long ago that he got kicked in the face by a random dwarf herbalist and lost a tooth, among other examples.

If red blood and blue blood mix, do you get purple blood? Just wondering what color any blood projectiles might be...

Dodge-roll around and stab the trolls in the ankles.
