We are, and also they are indeed scary birds but not actual terror birds.

Regardless, eat them.

The placement is really up to you. There are arguments for both.
This is a Forum game, and Forum Games typically end up in the Forum Games section, but tpa tthe same time, it’s a DF community game/Story. It could be argued that Df Stuff should stay in the DF section, though I personally find that to be... somewhat confining, since not everyone looks at the DF part, and this isn’t a traditional game of DF, except maybe in shape. If you want more people to see it, it’d do better to be on the Forum Games section, and honestly, I’d love to see this thread gain more traction. It might not be well recieved by all though, and archiving would become somewhat complex. Really, it’s up to you.

I think that, actually, on the contrary, the forumites most interested in Dwarf Fortress and, by extension, DF community games and stories would frequent the upper boards more often, so we would actually be attracting a larger share of attention here than in the lower boards. The upper boards are also where all the new forumites enter through, so they may even be more overall eyeballs / day in the upper boards than in the lower boards if you account for that.

Lurked for a while, then stopped watching, back and glad to see that LiF is still going!

Amazing webcomic!

My two cents on the Forum Games move is that they're not really as DF-related as LiF is. It might get more views but this is a combination story and game that would probably be more fitting here.

Either way, this is definitely worth following, wherever it is! The website is really helpful to keep it organized too.

just so you know, terror birds are fast flightless birds that ate meat and actually existed, not just a random scary bird

I think stating beak dogs are scary but not ACTUAL terror birds suggests awareness that "scary bird" and "terror bird" aren't synonyms. So yeah, my guess is that Dunamisdeos already knows what they are. :P

Personally I prefer to use their scientific name: phorusrhacids.

It's all good. History and it's related extinct scarybeasts is a rad subject and it's fun to talk about it. Calling them phorusrhacids makes them sound like the active ingredient in a laxitive or something, though.

Anyway, eat em.

Yeah, I could see that I suppose. XD

Oh goodie! Kill them for their meats and pelts!
+1 Its like they knew we needed meat and pelts and came to deliver them to us.
Fly up with Edi, just out of reach of snapping jaws, and start sniping.

You and Edi fly up and away from the dogs but Kudo is already knocked off his feet and surrounded by the giant dingos. They bite and scratch but don't seem to be able to pierce his armor. You shoot the closest dingo several times. Edi misses his shots.

One of the giant dingo's has latched on firmly to Kudo's left hand.
The giant dingo shakes Kudo around by the left hand tearing off the left hand.
A major artery has been torn.

Kudo has lost possession of the bronze gauntlet.

Kudo stabs the giant dingo in the head, tearing the brain.
The giant dingo has been struck down.

Kudo slashes the giant dingo in the upper front leg, tearing the skin and tearing the muscle.

The other giant dingos are fleeing.

Kudo finishes his dingo and yours has bled to death.

Kudo discards his bronze shield. "Well, it could have been worse. I could have lost my foot."

'Tis... but a scratch?   :-X

Butcher the dingoes. Fill any empty waterskins and similar containers with the blood-- we can drink it if we don't find anything better.

Craft a dingo bone hook and use it to replace Kudo's lost hand. :D

Hunt down the remaining dingoes Predator-style, cut off their left front paws, use bones to fashion flamboyantly lethal prosthetic. Name Adventuring party Order of the Dingo.
