Given my oft-voiced suspicions you might think I'd let them try something and disavow all knowledge.

But I also don't really want to antagonize such a big country without being certain to avoid retaliation.

So middle of the road response is B.

Something still feels wrong about these offers, in some hard to define way. The first thing I notice is that Elran probably expects us to pay all the expenses for feasting and entertainments, demonstrating once again his ability to make a prestigious-sounding offer with a sizeable cost to us.

The other thing that I notice is that Eldrican originally approached us in the context of containing Koi expansion. But as nearly as I can tell, they are the ones who have been expanding aggressively, gobbling up territory in the west. Check out the changes from the first map to the latest map. Add in that they now claim to have conquered Kiwi and vassalized Koi (which names Haspen may have gotten backward?) they are growing still.

This is the man and nation who claims to be too poor to finish their war properly and now wishes to "personally deliver" working Fireblood cannon and siege operators right to our doorstep. Huh. 

Yet I will vote A. (Edit: no longer the current question.)

Because if he's coming after us anyway we might as well do it on a schedule like civilized people. And because if this guy is genuine in spite of my doubts I want to hear this offer. Just make sure that our security planning includes things like making sure our son and/or our brother is well away from the capitol at the time. Double army recruiting to provide an 'appropriate' honor guard.

And cross our fingers that I won't have to say, "I told you so."

The one thing we learned about the false envoy is that he was not in fact Eldrican. So that's a point against my conspiracy theories, and why I'm still voting for diplomatic options. It's one thing to speak paranoia, but another to act on it.

Mighty mushroom, you are right, they just beaten a large land of the empire,that don't look weak, I haven't noticed that, we need to have caution, always.

Hope he still want's to just marry the heir, or if he tries to ask something more ask for our second daughter, if he ask for the first we will have a bit of problems because of the ceodwells and we will have to decline or ask for something more.

We can use the chance of the visit to make him taste the spices, maybe we can sell part of it to him for a proxy and gain even more money,
since we will probably spend money buying fireblood material from him...( although we can sell too a bit of it for a profit)

The map made me notice a thing, anything that goes beyond  eldrican or gutba will probably have to pass through our lands (pass through two huge nations in war isn't very nice(the empire the republic), same for the saltsands and the empire/republic, (unless they really want to make a detour between mountains), it's a very nice location for commerce.


(And i am trying to figure out right now what might have happened with the elven cloaks, all in the hands of one noble? Scattered among heroes and attics of peasants?, hands of super-criminals? teared and burned? There were 200 of them.)

There must've been an informant! Otherwise this would've gone better.

While few men and women were killed, the rest of influential Felonsines simply disappeared on their own accord. Some of Spymaster's agents were killed, too. The spies and soldiers will keep looking for them but who knows what kind of plots the Felonsines might be brewing now, outside your reach?

1099 AD, Autumn

You receive a letter from King Elran III; he apologizes as his visit needs to be postponsed a month or two, as crop failure has afflicted his vast kingdom and he has to deal with this emergency first.

Your wife doesn't see you as often after the birth of Cyl. She spends more and more time in the library you sponsored her and she doesn't visit your bed as much.

And now this rumor has surfaced that she is seeing some youngster(s?) when nobody's looking. May it be she is cheating on you, for whatever reason?

A) Time to publicly call her out for this and have her confess! CONFESS!!
B) Gotta talk to her and mention consequences if she doesn't explain herself.
C) Let's bribe one of her maids to spy on her and bring us information.
