From an age undreamed of. II (SG)
« on: June 02, 2017, 05:18:18 pm »

"Between the time when the Titanomachy fell and rise of the Etruscan kings, there was an age undreamed of.
A time where fate of empires rested on steel and foul sorcery shaped the land."

You where but a new born baby when a gang of bandits killed your mother and left you alone to die by the roads side.
But you where lucky, a pasting sheep farmer found you and ever since you have been raise by your adoptive parents.

The day started much like any other with you heading out early to top pasture with the sheep.

The dawn brakes and across the valley you see a banner rising above the fields, a clenched red fist on a black background.
Below it comes a horde of riders and men at arms, all marching towards the village with evil in there eyes.

Screams crack the dawn as men dies cut down like dogs as women are stolen, homes burns and village is plundered.

As you rush back to the village, you can see smoke rising from the far side of your family's barn and a trail of blood on the door.

Your fathers barely stands up facing the door way, half propping self with the wall.
One hand on his belly by a large arrow and the other limply around the haft of a blooded hatchet.

" Thank gods!, you're still alive, i thought the slavers had you.
-Ughk- This is where we part ways, your mothers dead, an i'll be with her soon.
-he cough and spits a mouth full blood on the floor-
I never told her but your mother, your true mother, she left you a gift, made me swear that i'd wait until you where old enough.
-yet more coughing-
Funny i wanted leave here until she came, dieing from bandits with you in her arms.
A little baby still at the teat and all alone in the world, that was it.. she made me stay.
- he grimaces in pain.-
She said that your father might come looking for you...

The gift, i buried it, up the hill, the gate post to the bull pen it's under there.
Now get out of here and you always remember, no matter where or what happens that you go that you where my child."

As you father passes away you leave the burning barn and your old life behind.

(Yes i know the same opening as the last one.)

Name: Peter Hudsley
Description: A short man, dark-haired man in simple farmer's clothes.
Gender: Male
Treasure: An apprentice's spellbook. Weapons.

Didn't know it was a trinary choice. Thought those were only suggestions.

So gold? or do actually want to start flinging spells around? so it counts as a weapon.

(I should of been more clear, i was more after category and a more detailed suggestion, i.e. weapon sword or armour helmet)

It takes you while to dig down until you finds a chard wooden box.
In side you find a trio of oily bundles.

Inside the largest bundle of oily rags you find a sword, it's unlike any sword you ever seen before, a gleaming sliver blade as long as your out stretched arm.

Along back of the blade are large deep serrations, pointed like the hungry teeth of some dreadful monster.
The hilt is bronze and fashioned in the shape of an eagles head.
Under the sword and rags you find, a broad black leather choker, covered in silver plates, and a plain pottery jar sealed with wax.

With a blade of war dangling down to your shin you wonder what to do? and where to go?

A)To the East, half a days walk, lies the nest town and the meeting point of the local militia.
B)To the West lies the trail of the bandits.

B

While you are not a great tracker, the bandits are drunk on power and careless leaving you an easy trail to follow.
As the twilight falls you see the band stop to make camp.

You climb up a tree to get a good look at the camp.
It's not much of a camp just a few crude shelters around a single cooking fire, a few drunken men stand guard.
Some stolen cattle is grazeing off the the side of an overloaded wagon.
Then you hear a twig snap and in the shadows you can make out:

A) A wild Askuzai horse woman sat on her painted war pony.
C) A Sabine officer sharpening his sword in the moonlight.
B) A noble Achaean hoplite crouched down in golden bronze armour.
D) Nothing your just tense and jumpy.

B) A noble Achaean hoplite crouched down in golden bronze armour.
-----

You hear a twig snap and in the shadows you can make out a noble Achaean hoplite.

He's a tall broad shouldered man with short fiery red hair and a goatee.

He seems uneasy as he stares at the bandit camp.

Slowly you down from the tree and approach him.
On the sight of you he rises his spear but them he stops.

"Who are? Your not one of the bandits! Did the king send you? are there others comeing?" the man whispers.

"I am Peter Hudsley and no the king did not send me.
So what do i call you friend?

"Tarquin Hostilius. Well then it is just us against theses bandits, you don't happen to have some cunning stratagem in mind?"

Well do you? or is it just stab them in the dark?

Spoiler: Peter Hudsley (click to show/hide)

Sneak around and unhitch the cattle. Spook them with some rocks thrown to the hind quarters, from a safe distance, and watch the guards, and whomever else give chase after them. that should create the first opening.

We should be doing the sneaking. we are in simpler clothing, and will blend in far more. Tarquin should hide and surprise the enemy if things go badly.
