It's going to be a little hard for me to follow this thread, as vacations are on the way...

Please turn my dwarf into a NPC that :
- wants to stay in the council
- keeps his 3 guards and his residence, for safety
- Vote "Yes" to whatever vote is asked (except votes to "downgrade" himself)

Otherwise, I won't be taking much more actions.

alright!
If you don't like the gauranteed yes voting you can try to vote him off.. but he did say that's the one thing he'll vote against
Blueturtle positions for council
vote is passed and blueturtle gains an additional 3 influence! as a council member bluetrutle is granted a residence (and snow is kicked out of his old one)

Well, with the guaranteed yes voting it basically means any policy only requires one vote to pass, so me and FanFakergirl could write stuff willy-nilly. That does sound like trouble. But he shouldn't lose his council seat...

Motion to declare Spriggans in abstention, that is, until he publically comments again he will be assumed to abstain on any issue. Once he speaks up, he will be restored to full powers, and while he is in abstention, we will assume he votes against downgrading himself in any way.

Note that this is not quite our-of-character knowledge, as in-game Spriggans going AFK could be seen as him taking less of an interest in civic activities. Also note that this motion would count as downgrading Spriggans - so by his current autopilot settings, we need Fakergirl's vote as well.

Also, future citizens, if you have any ideas for legislation, tell one of us! I promise to introduce it to the council/poke Cathar with one of the sharp sticks in my cabinet. Don't lose touch with your government!

taking too long for fakerfangirl to vote, I might have to go ahead and play a season before this resolves

How about you declare that one in-game season = one real-world day, so people have to finish their actions by a certain time?

well I said before we have at least a 12 hour timer after each action/vote (i say at least because who knows if i'll be too busy to play) and it's been well over that, so I think i'll go ahead

Alright, I have a couple ideas for how we could implement checks and balances.
  • The Mayor has to approve any council addition or ejection. He is expected to decide objectively when reasonable, setting aside his grudges to choose on merit alone.
  • Conversely, the Council can block any Mayoral action with a unanimous vote.

This way, any measure has to have reasonable support from both sides.

Now, note that I could just push it through due to the yes-man voting. However, I'm a decent person and value fairness and all, so I want to hear some more opinions before starting this measure.

sorry for the delay, I finally got round to playing the next season;
We added dwarves to the military as per fakerfangirl's instructions they're happily training away now
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
we got our first strange mood!
not a player sadly just some recruit who had just been drafted
he made.. this
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
he's a legendary gem setter now but i'm not too impressed to be honest.
All player residences now have a bit of food at least, but it continues to be difficult to get drinks in there, I may have to dump drink barrels one at a time
a few more migrants arrived, all in all a pretty boring season
Spoiler: status (click to show/hide)

Would you care to give us a list of player characters and influences? Now it's easy to keep track, but if when this game really takes off it's going to be chaotic.
