Looks nice. Just as long as it doesn't have any evilness, I'm alright with that. Hoping that my supreme lazy newbiness does not lead to the downfall.

Okay, first season done, and it is now summer.

Some of the border roads have been made, but there's a lot left unfinished still. Our citizens have a shared dorm to sleep in, and a food stockpile above it, but not much else.

One craftsman's shop is set to keep making wooden crafts, for when the traders arrive, for which we have a depot waiting.

There's no food yet.

Here's my block so far:

I've updated the map in the first post, to show what's in all the blocks. If anybody wants to change their booking now, they're welcome to.

Looks nice and human-like. Well, human-like for a dwarf. Anyway, how are we going to handle above ground farming? Just pick up the seeds when a human/elven caravan arrives?

That, and forage from the native plants.

Question; how big is the embark point? I'd like to join, but my computer can barely handle a 3x3 embark point when it gets very crowded.

It's 5x5, with only one cavern layer, not that it matters, since there won't be a lot of digging.

Hmm, my computer isn't all too good, but I've never tried a 5x5 embark before, so I'm not sure if it'll work.

Ah, might as well give it a shot, right? If worse comes to worse, I'll forfeit my turn and I'll just stay as a dorf (well... hoomon?).

B4, please! I plan to make a library. I love libraries.

Put you on the list. Map will be updated later.

In fort news, farms have been set up, and an open-air brewery, and we have our first barrel of sunshine!

We also built an office for the manager, bookkeeper, broker, and expedition leader, in a little hut next to the trade depot.

He still sleeps with the rest of us.

Well everyone knows slumber parties are the best way to build dwarven camaraderie.

So, winter report!

I tried to pierce the aquifer, and killed two dwarfs doing it. I hope to have it done by spring.

I lost some work, due to a power outage, so I had to re-make the manager's hut, this time bigger.

Traders came and went. We got some metal from them, which I will be using to build a well, and have used some to build a wood furnace and a forge.

We're growing sunberries, so we should be able to export sunshine, which fetches a decent price, I'm told.

Looking good (the fortress, not the dead bodies).
