Are adventurers still asexual in .43.04 and .43.05?
« on: July 29, 2016, 04:31:41 am »

Are maximally lustful, maximally romantic, maximally friends and family oriented adventurers whose goal in life is to start a family still asexual?

don't know, but you can just use the dfhack 'fix-ster fert' command if you really care

DFHack isn't yet available for version 0.43.04 or later - since Toady changed compilers (and added 64-bit support), there's a whole lot of stuff that needs to be updated.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

All indications are that adventurers remain sexually undetermined and that nothing has changed regarding that in the last two releases. DFHack is now able to change this again, although it's still beta.

Yes, they are. I asked in Fotf (I assume that the reply I got from dfhack savvy folk was correct, as Toady skipped that question).

DFHack is now in beta, which means it should not have any game-destroying death-and-destruction bugs, but no promises.

You could try, but always make backups.

The best way to demonstrate it to him is take a save of 40 year old fortress with 150 dwarves in it on a good sized embark with a volcano that just breached the circus and install it on his gaming rig and watch it bring his rig to its knees.

Adventurers don't get married or have children in 0.43.05 unless you swap out the "indeterminate" sexuality flag for either marry_male or marry_female.

Does that actually work? Has anyone seen retired adventurers marry, have kids, etc in worldgen?
I mentioned this in another thread and someone responded that they'd tried it and it didn't work for them.

My two adventurers have a child who's now two years old, the child isn't playable as an adventurer however. Also the adventurers were fortress citizens for a long period (I retired them at a fort, unretired the fort, after some time they both applied for citizen status).

edit:

Actually this probably isn't what you're asking because it didn't happen in the "active world" background system.
