I've seen sparring and fistfights both end in death by suffocation.  Check for dwarves that like to fight, maybe put them in a single squad to thin the ranks.

Heya Folks,

Sorry for the delay, manic week.

Had a look at the gravestones, strangely enough, the dwarves seems to have died of different causes.

As it stands, of my candidates (I can't recall precisely who mysteriously died) two died as a result of "Flying objects" and two died of suffocation.

Not sure what to make of that really. ¬¬

Oh, and no vampires in settlement, just to confirm.

It's possible that the other two were hit into lungs/spine by flying objects and suffocated. I think being hit by logs from treetops would count as flying objects? Though my first thought was about fun (minecart) dumping/moving stockpile system.

Hatches over ramps can also result in injuries as one dwarf stands on hatch and other goes through. I recall even a mention of hatches and bins on a stairway resulting in low level fort-wide dodge training many months ago in "what's going on in your fort" thread.
