Castle:Reboot [Retromach's Missions]

You walked through the starport, past towering windows making up the outer walls facing the martian highlands of Terra Cimmeria, past shops and advertisements and a drone floor waxer moving about it's duties of keeping everything sparkling. Stepping into an airlock, there was a pressure change as decontamination gasses were sprayed over you, and the doorway to The Castle opened.

The Castle was made of a dark stone not readily found in Terra Cimmeria. It was heated and lit by space heaters and spotlights powered by portable fusion generators. The team gathered inside a staging area near the gateway, a platform, for now, surrounded by hieroglyphs. Dr. Rupert Langdon, the chief archaeologist on the Castle project, was waiting in a lab coat. Lockers on the side of the room had been set up with armored space suits and magnetic PDWs. Tools were arrayed on a table, including a Gauss rifle, demolitions pack, autodoc, and a portable manual repair kit. A man with a clipboard raised his hand and shook his head at anyone trying to claim one yet.

The Gate itself wasn't active. An empty dais at the center of the room was once thought to be a place where speeches or religious sermons must be made, until it was first accidentally activated. A number of archaeologists and physicists are in attendance, with gear scattered around various workstations aimed at the dais, along with laser stations.

In the corner, a pair of archeologists were quietly arguing.

"For all we know, we're about to dial a prison, or a trash compactor. This whole thing might be an elaborate system for sorting recycling."

"A lot of the evidence fits. The strange stone, the lack of any other structures in the area-"

"There are a lot of craters in the area-"

"That don't have black stones. Besides, who would put up with a recycling system this complicated?"

"Hate to stake my life on it.."

Landgon spoke louder, to draw the team's attention. "Suit up, introduce yourselves. In a moment we'll call people to receive specialist equipment."

The bulky Vietnamese man sluggishly puts on his suit, patting it down once it's on to make sure that everything is on and secured correctly. Then, he plops his helmet on, sealing it in place, deciding to turn the internal oxygen system on once the team is given the go ahead. Picking up the PDW from the locker, he looks it over, checking it, briefly flicking the safety off, then back on again.
Holding it loosely in one hand, pointed at the floor, he closes the locker he got his stuff form, and stands in front of it, waiting.

Wolfram slowly puts on the suit obviously not used to such bulk equipment. Though eventually the man manages to get into the suit and then turns to the Vietnamese man near him. He appraises the man for a second then nods. "My name is Wolfram von Steinheil. I hope that we can work together efficiently on this assignment."

A security tech stepped around each of you as you finished suiting up, checking seals and running a quick startup diagnostic, pulling straps to tighten the armor back over the control panel and patting you roughly as he finished.

The taller man looks down at Wolfram for a moment, face mostly obscured by the helmet, and then looks back forward, replying with a something like a quiet grunt.

Kaito would begin to get into his own suit, grunting softly as he had a bit of trouble getting into the bulky outfit. "Man I wish these things were more sleek... so is this everyone for this mission? It's nice to meet you all, my name's Kaito." He spoke softly, the others seeing a little smile before he got his helmet on to block out his features. He certainly didn't sound like any kind of soldier.

The Pilot and their cargo handlers paused when they saw that the entire camp is covered in eldritch runes coated in blood. And rotting monkey corpses everywhere..

Jon puts on his suit with relative ease, compared to most of his team. Grabbing a PDW and checking it over, he begins to wait.

Their suits read 'Boiy' and 'Cross', not John and Jon, which made that easier at least.

Ricardo looks at his suit in disgust, "How am I meant to fight in this?" He starts struggling into it nonetheless, grumbling the whole time. As he suits up, he removes the knives and arrows from his knife rig and tucks the empty leather harness into the backpack. He then clips the various scabbards to different parts of his suit and adds the arrows to his hip quiver. His Glock is on his thigh and his guandao strapped to his back


"so uhhh..." Ricardo says through the helmet, "Is there any fucking aircon in this thing?"

Staring at Ricardo for a few moments, Danh nudges Wolfram with his elbow, and gruffly says, in English, "Hey, Steilheil. You wanna make a little bet on how long Robin Hood over there is gonna last if we find some hostile shit?" as he nods towards the man with the bow.
