With one final pump of the legs, he dives for the closing shuttle door, as the ship takes off, just in time before being completelyconsumed!
"Huh, pretty good for yer first mission, eh? Everybody should get into one of the pods, and you can deposit the corpse in one of 'me too.
Oh, and put the samples in any free pods. FTL drive boots up in about 10 minutes."Ask the figure a question.
"Have you played Boggle very much?"
Try to distract it with simple questions that require some though before answering. Continue writing words (unless this round is over, in which case, start another one and do the same strategy.) Oh- and,
assuming I still have my equipment, ask the pAI to give me a hand.

Though you can't see its face, you get the distinct impression that it is raising an eyebrow at you. It says yes, it does in fact play a lot of Boggle. Along with a variety of other games such as The Game of Life, Scrabble, Pictionary, and Hungry Hungry Hippos.
With that, it goes back to its list. Damn. You bought a little time however, and its list is only about 33% longer than yours.
