Life Ensues
« on: July 20, 2017, 05:45:17 pm »

Sometimes, we can't predict what is going to happen. Sometimes things surprise us. I thought going to Texas would be the last move I'd make for a long time. Nope, I'm going to Hawaii now.

I'm not sure what to expect when we get there. Anything could happen. I've been told to expect a butt load of culture shock, but that's about it. In two months time, anything could happen. As I step off the plane and onto Hawaiian soil, I don't even know what I'll initially see. I know it's a jungle. But... that's it.

What's the point? Well, I've been thinking. Maybe I should write a book about it. I mean, I only get to go to be a newcomer to Hawaii once, right? It only makes sense that I should catalog these new experiences and share them with the world. What do you think?

You should conspire to become king of Hawaii instead

I've heard the most shocking thing about Hawaii is the sheer # of homeless people you run into on the island.

The big thing I've heard of is the rather... lax property ownership laws. There are a disturbingly large number of cases of homeless people just driving cars onto your property and not leaving... ever. You get arrested if you try to chase them off using force, and the police refuse to move them themselves.

This is why I'm an anarchist.

The solution is to just put a gated fence around your property, because if they even so much as touch that gate they are vandalizing your property, which is illegal and they will get punished for it. But if you don't do that, you have to live in the world's most awful sitcom until your unwanted guest just leaves on his own.

I think a cheaper solution to a fence would be to put up a sign reading 'bed and breakfast, 5000 dollars per person per day'.

I feel like that passes the point where I can justify my actions.

I think a cheaper solution to a fence would be to put up a sign reading 'bed and breakfast, 5000 dollars per person per day'.

Not a bad idea  ;)

Writing a book sounds like a very good idea. That or a blog.

I've been leaning towards the blog idea here lately, I feel like that would be better. So I guess I'll screw around with Blogspot for a bit and see what it takes to get it working. Any ideas for blog names? I'm thinking of calling it, "My Culture Shock Journal" or something like that.
