questions about in-game movies
« on: August 11, 2017, 01:04:22 am »

I tried to capture a sequence in adventure mode with the game's movie utility, but playback only displayed a few flickering rows of characters in a disarranged interface. Are there some requirements taken for granted by those who use this, or does nobody use it because of such requirements?

Can this be used in adventurer mode?  Can this work with graphical tilesets? Does it require a certain resolution or window size?

Never got the DF movie to work right, there's a good chance it might even be broken. But I suggest giving Gifcam a go works great for me! Now there is a lot of keylogged clones of it, so I'll link the developers page. Though the website looks funny, but do your research before downloading of course.

Brokenness...Well, there's lot of old movies on dfma, at least. Those work fine, but never used this feature tbh.

Mostly phone-posting, sorry for any typos or autocorrect hijinks.

I tried in arena and only the menu and map displayed correctly, I still got flickering blocks of characters for the local area display. Do you use the standard ASCII?

Very nice utility, thanks for the link! Unfortunately my capture runs over the frame limit, though I could get under if I could cut frames.

Yes. I never use graphic packs.
