So I modded a creature that had significant bodily variations between sexes. Males are small winged fliers and females are large and flightless. I spent a good hour trying to figure out why the geldables on the male wasn't working, before I realised that I was putting it before the body plan definitions. It works now.

Current version of dwarf Fortress broke every single mod I made thanks tarn..... losings fun I guess 😞

What's broken, exactly? Is it the sprites? Yeah it defaults to the weird blue thing.

I had to struggle with updating graphics too, as well as continuing the struggle to split Spellcrafts into modules again. So many errors, so many interdependencies.

Tbh the new palettized graphics for creatures will save me tons of time still for future creatures. It just requires completely undoing and redoing the ones i already did...

Yep the new system is really nice but it's massively more complex than the old system that's for sure I wish that each creature and each cast had its own separate text file so you could look at the stuff more easily to discern what the hell's going on but oh well

I'm doing my first mod, to any game, ever.

It should be a couple of reactions to engrave specific furniture without repetition, that went well.
Then i thought it would be nice if the encrusted doors had a specific graphic. Apparently, that can't be done right now.

Trying to bypass the whole door thing, i thought about creating a new Item_door that is made once you encrust a regular door, then i could mod its graphics... once i've given up on doors (i just made all of them look encrusted), i decided to do that to a weapon.

The weapon and its reaction are ready, but my dwarves keeps equipping many of them in the same hand and i can't figure out why.

Besides that, i'm struggling with the creature graphics, it seems that the only way to see my weapon is replacing all graphics for the dwarven race, which i think will create compatibility problems.

My keyboard broke, had to get a new one. It was a minor setback, but it triggered a sort of mental blockage, and I just wasn't feeling it. Even so, I'm determined to finish tose Dredge fish.

To this moment I was making even the most putrid vermin fish edible and harmless. The boreal shell, however, is a Boreaspis skeleton, and I couldn't just have dwarves eat that. So thats the first inedible fish.

Then there was more exotic body plans that Iron Rig gave us. I didn't expect I would have to research eurypterids and vetulicolians when I first started doing this.

Oh my god, yes. I never thought I needed to see an eurypterid in DF... Vetulicolians are just weird, though.

I've seen euripterids in Primal, although regrettably they could not be butchered and eaten. I wouldn't be that excited for mine either, because it will be both a vermin and somewhat abnormal.

Anyway, maybe it's because of the new meds, but I've managed to churn out some more fish:
-giant dragonfish - a non-aberrant cryptid fish. Females are 50k in size, while males are only 10k.
-untouchable wyrmfish - aberrant form of the dragonfish. Slower and shorter-lived, but otherwise identical. I just realized that "untouchable" is meant to mean "pariah", not "indestructible". Makes more sense.
-excoriated fiend - skinless Dunkleosteus. It may lack its armor, but it's still a ton of hungry sea monster.

The only things left are the previously discussed sea scorpion, the aberrations of exotic fish, and the Shape. And testing, of course.

Added kemonomimi human castes. Had some tissue layer troubles, such as hair growing inside bones-- but that's all been fixed :3

Mildly interested as to how that became an issue, actually quite interested to be honest.

Sure! I was applying the hair tissue layer onto the tail body part(s) before the usual default skin/fat/muscle/bone stuff happened, in the raws. I was working out how to do everything with the caste system etc etc. Properly selecting the right tokens for the right castes in the right order etc.
I noticed it was wrong because I used gui/gm-editor on the castes' body plans and saw the order of tissue layers on the tail(s) was horribly wrong.

Well, that's certainly not an image I expected to see again...

Not sure if this is the most appropriate place to ask this, but I put a mod on the Steam Workshop that makes all clothes available to dwarven civs.

For some reason, however, only braies are still counted as foreign and can not be crafted.

I have forced access on the dwarven civ entity:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I have not changed the vanilla game BRAIES pants object whatsoever, so I'm not sure why braies are not being given to dwarven civs. Am I missing something?
