I love the sword, it really stands out against the rest of the color scheme. Makes it feel more special.

Hmm... I just had the awesome idea of a webcomic with an evil magic sword (sapient and the villain maybe) in it, but whenever that sword is in the room everything else switches to a greyscale color scheme, but the sword stays it's malevolent shade of crimson.

Sounfs like a cool example of visual storytelling.
I was thinking about using the spiritworld for a similar purpose, but your idea is simpler and maybe better.

I don't see it often, but I love it when a comic manipulates the color scheme to change the mood. Have you ever read Cucumber Quest? That webcomic has some of the best comic art I've ever seen and does exactly that.

I had forgotten about that webcomic, its art is really some of the best out there.

One of the first webcomics I found Snarlbear, may not have art comparable to the Cucumber Quest, but I think it is also very good at using color to point out the mood. Also colors turn psychedelic whenever the protagonist gives in to rage, which I guess is similar to your idea.

I didnt want to draw anything today, so here's Masked mage unpainted:

Cucumber Quest is so good and still being updated, so go back and read it. It's awesome and just gets better :D

Snarlbear? Haven't heard that name before. I'll have to look it up later.

Purple mage just loves lurking around and looking evil. I love it :D

Okay wait, the comment about him being more robe than man makes me wonder if it's because he's wearing a cursed magic robe that makes him evil. Hmm... could Evil Aine be evil for a similar reason?

You are sort off right with this.

But masked mage is evil out of his own free will, no lazy excuses for him.

Its a small doodle of my Kobold adventurer.

I went to a vault to properly end the adventure. I like how you can have wholesome conversations with angels while they try to cleave you in half.

Woo! I did a smart!

Out of curiosity, do you have any ideas about what the masked mage can do?

Once again your facial expressions are the best, that kobold looks so worried but at the same time he's like, "Uh... thanks?"

It went about as well as you would expect, Kobolds are really tiny and the first soldier I fought wrestled me and then cleaved me in half. When I returned with another adventurer, the same angel clobbered me to death with the corpse.

I dont really know, but lets say:

In the beginning, The Maker left the stewardship of creation to twelve wise men, convinced they would preserve it and guide it to prosperity. He was mistaken.

Masked mage is one of these twelve.

Its not so evil Aine:

Down at the bottom of the ocean. Beneath tons of brine which would crush you down. Not into broken and splintered flesh, but into thin soup. Into just more of the sea water. Where things live that aren't so different from you, but you will never live to touch them and they will never live to touch you.

And now I'm doubly curious about Masked Mage, though a name of sorts probably is required at some point. He probably had a name, but has abandoned it over time due to its under use. Hmm... while short and generic, do you think Mask could work? Or maybe Maskician if you're into wordplay.

I've never been so tempted to write about characters I've only seen depicted in drawings. Good job, your art really brings them to life.

1. "And the Seventh was Eyes, who started out noble but soon wanted to make everything cozy under a layer of fluffy snow."

2. And this one speaks like "Hey! Don't you see I'm unfinished, punk? Gosh those bay12 people really know no privacy! Shoo!"

That picture makes Masked Mage look like such a badass :D

And the other one is awesome too. She looks pretty annoyed, which is probably the default state in the zombie apocalypse.
