Now, you may be disappointed by just the partial but look at it like this: you don't have to deal with trying to extricate yourself from the fucking horrible mashup of people crammed along the path of totality, which is probably the first time anybody ever thought in the history of ever "I need to get to Clarksville, TN right now because nobody else had the excact same idea" and well... ha ha.

Aside from a slight darkening of the ambient light level,  I didn't get to experience much. I had no materials to make an eclipse viewer, no eclipse glasses, not even some trees so I could observe the weird shadows.

Basically a disappointment, but I expected that.

Obviously they should have taken the last train to Clarksville.

I give it a 2/10. It started raining here not long after we hit the maximum coverage of about 85% but even before that it was too cloudy to see much of anything anyway. To be honest even in the brief periods where I could see it wasn't that impressive, and the shadows and sky looked exactly as they would as normal. I'm glad I already had the strips of mylar I used to see the thing instead of wasting time and money buying or making something.

Even if you found a suitable opening, I doubt it would prove all too satisfying. And it might leave some nasty wounds, depending on the moral high ground's geology.
Location subject to periodic change.

Meh. Wasn't great.

The Yelp page for the Sun is going down in flames.

Shadows were the best part. Might try and make a desktop background out of a looped clip of the light filtering through the trees and generating hundreds of fleeting crescents.

Yeah, seem to be at or past the peak. Can't really tell a difference, don't have anything except shoddy sunglasses to take a direct peek (which I did a quick one with anyway. Daystar is star, the eyedots have since cleared up). I think it was actually more impressive with lower coverage, here, somehow.

... now for a nap in hopes of it dealing with this headache.

Or 2024, presumably.

Or wait till 2035 and go to Japan to see that eclipse. And while there watch a silver-haired pretty-boy storm a castle to kill a televangelist and then fight what was actually himself all along.

Didn't even bother glancing at it in Northern Colorado, but the crescent shaped leaf shadows were neat and a few minutes of partly overcast weather is always welcome in August.

Apparently, you could have done this to get weird shadows.
