How to produce adamantine clothes?
« on: August 26, 2017, 11:55:08 am »

In a clothier shop I can queue an order to make clothes out of Cloth, Silk or Yarn.

After choosing the desired item (trousers/socks/etc), you can specify the material to use under (d)etails. However, I can not find "adamantine" anywhere as an option. And if I specify nothing, my clothier will fetch a pig tail cloth from far away, rather than use an adamantine cloth from a stock next to the shop.

Adamantine clothes are made at a metalsmith's forge or a magma forge.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Also note that adamantine clothes wear out at the same rate as regular ones, so making clothes out of it is rather extravagant.

Thanks, got it.

Well, I read that adamantine cloaks are the only way to protect your throat very well, so I figured spending a couple of adamantine threads on a cloak or two might be a good idea. I smelted the bulk of it into 70 wafers, will practice on copper to train weapon/armor smithing before using them. (Have no iron or bronze.)

It's still a waste. Go for normal cloaks instead, although you'll have to replace them manually as they wear out (unless that was taken care of as a side effect of armor wear handling: I haven't bothered with equipping military dorfs in 0.43.05).
