Jurassic World Evolution
« on: August 22, 2017, 01:40:43 pm »

A trailer has been released for what appears to be a spiritual successor to Jurassic Park Operation Genesis.

I'm looking forward to it, Operation Genesis was great. The premise is building your own Jurassic Park, in a similar manner to Zoo Tycoon.

Indeed so I am not just pooping on this game...

Operation Genesis is one of the games I love and wish I bought. I hope this game is genuinely good and not held down by the fact that they are aiming for console release (or the fact that the movies are so recent that the game is likely AAA meaning it needs to appeal to the casuals and be watered down to mush)

I guess is to say... This game has potential to be amazing! but my tea leaves aren't giving me hope.

Why is this game being released on consoles as well an issue? It's not like performance should be an issue in this genre, nor the control scheme. Looking forward to some gameplay anyway.

Supposedly this is being made by the same guys who made Planet Coaster? If that's the case you can expect a decent sandbox-y game, but without much in the way of actual park management etc. Great if all you wanna do is build a park.

It really depends on which its made for....if its made for PC and then ported to consoles then its usually not an issue

The issue comes when they restrict and/or design the PC version around consoles which make it inherently dumbed down and held back more often than not. PCs are much more powerful (usually) than consoles usually as well as having a better control scheme ESPECIALLY for city builders and strategy style games.

The only way that would work is if they do a PROPER fully tweaked port from console to PC

What dennis said.

A good example for bad controls due to the game being a console port is Skyrim.
The menus are made for a controller, and the first thing I do when I play it is getting the inventory tweaks and stuff.

If you design a city builder to be played with a controller, you will have much more nested menus and stuff because you don't have as many buttons for shortcuts.
On the computer you have a whole keyboard and thus more than enough buttons to make everything reachable with a key.

In that case it depends on the laziness of the developer.
Do they remake the controls for PC, or do they simply use a key for each button on the controller and nothing else.

It was also released 10 years after the movie it was based on.

I'd be happy as long as the game play is similar enough to Operation Genesis.

I enjoyed Operation Genesis (and should still be able to play it on my PS2). Hopefully this ends well.

My brother and I used to love Operation Genesis when we were kids, really hope this turns out to be similar.
