This is the world of Yaremos. A fantastical realm where roam many dangerous creatures. The humans call these creatures "Monsters".

In the far past, an extremely advanced civilization ruled the world. The cyclopean ruins and powerful artifacts they left behind are but a fraction of their lost grandeur. Yet one day, this civilization disappeared. What terrible event could have brought down such giants? No one know. And few are those who remember the existence of the Ancients, who are now mere myths among the common folks...

In the present day, centuries after the Ancient thrived, the humans still reign supreme over the world. Despite the dangers of the world, they have managed to create many countries: from small kingdoms to uncontested empires, there seems to be no limit to their expansion. It may be that one day, they will even tame Monsters...

But something started to change. What were once rumors and tales of crazed adventurers now are accepted as a fact. There is something causing Monsters to change, to evolve at an alarming rate. Countries are facing a crisis, settlements are being destroyed, kingdoms even. Some of the Abnormals are threatening kingdoms on their own. Some have been told to specifically target humans. And worse, some have been said to be gathering, and forming primitive societies...
A new era is brewing, the fate of humanity is hanging on a thin thread...

This RTD is a continuation of the game of the same name. From a simple minimalist game were born great stories, and I hope this new iteration will let us see the end of this great adventure.

In this game, the players are creatures known as monsters. They are free to follow their whims, whether to become a powerful and merciless beast, explore the secrets of Yaremos and the Ancients or decide to help humans. Set your goals.

1. Attack Levels and Damage Rolls

The Attack Level represents the overall strength of an attack.
The Attack Level is determined based on the used Attribute, the Weapon used, and Combat modifiers.
The starting Attack Level is 1, which is a damage roll of a single d4.

The Attack Level is further modified by Traits and Equipment.
In Combat, the Attack Level is then increased or decreased by the Attribute difference.

Attack levels 1 to 3:
d4: light attack (2.5)
d6: normal attack (3.5)
d8: heavy attack (4.5)

Attack levels 4 to 6:
2d4: light superior attack (5)
2d6: normal superior attack (7)
2d8: heavy superior attack (9)

Attack levels 7 to 9:
3d6: light devastating attack (10.5)

2. Attack and Defence Rolls (Talent, Skill, and Situation)

Attack and Defence rolls:
Combat is a contest of two rolls between an Attacker and a Defender, represented by an Attack Roll and a Defence Roll. The base formula for these two rolls is as follow:
Attacking Roll: 1d[10+2*Attribute] + [Bonus/Malus]
Defending Roll: 1d[10+2*Attribute] + [Bonus/Malus]

For an attack to succeed, the Attacking Roll must be superior or equal to the Defending Roll.
There are no criticals for rolling a [1].

Roll philosophy
To go in details into the roll philosophy, these two rolls have three components: Talent, Skill, and Situation.

Talent [Base Roll]: based on Attributes, innately swingy with highs and lows.
Skill [Skill Mod]: based on Skills or Traits, consistent.
Situation [Situation Mod]: everything else, variable.

Talent + Skill + Situation
[Base Roll] + [Skill Mod] + [Situation Mod]

Talent and Base Roll
The Base Roll starts from a d10, and 2 is added/substracted to the die size for each points of Attribute above 0.
That way every 1 in an Attribute increases the average of the base roll by 1.5.

Skill
First off, there are 4 levels of Skill. Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, and Master.
Skills offer flat bonuses.
+0: No skill
+1 to +2: Basic
+3 to +4: Intermediate
+5 to +6: Advanced
+7 and more: Master

The idea behind Skills is that they offer consistency, and allow someone to bridge the gap with a talented but unskilled adversary.
The basic idea is as follow:

A Basic level can close the gap of 1 Attribute.
An Intermediate level can close the gap of 2 Attribute.
An Advanced level can close the gap of 3 Attribute.
A Master level can close the gap of 4 Attribute.

Situation
The idea behind Situation is to reward or punish the decisions of players and NPCs, as well as add another layer of unpredictability to combat.
So far we have the following levels of advantage, but unfortunately I am yet not confident I can give proper guidelines. I don't want Situation modifiers to completely negate Talent and Skill, so I will be experimenting with the modifiers.

3. Magic... this wizardry

There is still a point which I'm really not satisfied with, and it's magic. I feel a lack of feedback from the system discourages players to attempt to invest in it, because they don't really know what to expect (and to be fair neither do I, which is not good!). My notes were a mess on that front, and here is a coherent draft.

Magic Mastery Skills will have four tiers: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Master.
Mastery tiers will affect MP cost, target casting difficulty, and the intensity of effects.
1. It is likely I will rebalance HP and MP if I standardize Magic mechanics.
2. It is very likely Skills will be affected by the addition of a <Magic> tag to tell it consumes MPs.

Basic: [Normal] / Novice / Low
Intermediate: [Superior] / Intermediate / Moderate
Advanced: [Devastating] / Expert / High
Master: [Fatal] / Master / Very High

Magic characteristics:
Magic Types will have four characteristics: Cost, Translation, Idea, and Difficulty. These should help get an idea of what to expect from a magic.
Each Magic will of course have their own particularities or prerequisites.

Cost: the energy requirements of the magic. Determines casting cost.
Translation: the energy to effect conversion. Determines spell power.
Idea: a measure of how easy or hard it is to learn this magic's fundamental concepts. Determines learning difficulty.
Difficulty: a measure of the degree of skill needed to successfully cast a spell. Determines casting difficulty.

Examples:
Glyph: a magic using Glyphs and Mana as a medium.
> Cost is Cheap, Translation is Efficient, Idea is Easy, Difficulty is Hard.
Arcane: a magic using Words+Formulas and Mana as a medium.
> Cost is Balanced, Translation is Balanced, Idea is Intermediate, Difficulty is Variable with a low ceiling.
Song: : a magic using Voice and Mana as a medium.
> Cost is High, Translation is Variable, Idea is Intermediate, Difficulty is Hard

More musings
Somewhere along that, I would like for players to be able to choose to cast a spell "safely", or "randomly". The difference between the two being RTD rules.
A safe spell will either fail or succeed within expected parameters.
A random spell will be subject to RTD madness.

Trying to cast a spell above your skill mastery will definitely use the Random parameter, if the casting is even successful.

When monsters gather enough Essence to reach the next stage, they evolve. When that happens, their Attributes will increase, and they will gain new Traits and Skills.
Some of these new Traits and Skills will be proposed by the GM. You may feel free to accept them or not, it won't incur anything negative.
Sometimes I will impose new Traits or Skills, it will depend on events.

Essence Table:
There are four qualities of essence: Lesser, Medium, High and Apex.
Starting from Stage 5, Lesser essence is no longer absorbed by your monster.
Starting from Stage 8, Medium essence is no longer absorbed by your monster.

As a consequence, you will have no choice but to face increasingly stronger opponents to reach higher stages of evolution.

Appearance: A ring made out of a dark grey, near black material and set with a small multi-colored jewel. Unusual, ancient-looking runes cover its surface, engraved on both the inside and outside, along with shallow silver-gold grooves forming circuit-like patterns surrounding them. The same runes and circuits can be faintly seen on his wielder's ring finger and part of their hand, seemingly tattooed onto the skin.

Traits:
Bonded Weapon [Innate] - Eximius is an ancient magical artifact and gains all the advantages and disadvantages of being such. His very existence is also bonded to his wielder. Aside from his form as a ring, he can also morph into his wielder's preferred melee weapon. They live and die together, unless the wielder expires due to natural causes - in which case Eximius will sooner or later happen upon another wielder due to the powers of fate. If Eximius and his wielder fall, Eximius himself will be found by a new wielder in a few centuries - fate itself twisting the facts to make Eximius continue existing.
>Passive: Since Eximius and his wielder are technically one entity, they supplement each other's stats during rolls.
Of Ambition [Innate] - Eximius intensifies the wielder's inner desires, driving him or her to pursue their ambitions, whether they be things as simple as protecting/slaughtering the weak or something more involved, like gaining control over a kingdom and such.
Of Vigilance [Innate] - Eximius (and by extension, his wielder) is able to detect powerful beings, along with those who have murderous intent towards the wielder.
Regenerating [Innate] - Along with lessening fatigue and improving his user's pain threshold, Eximius now grants them supernaturally fast regeneration.
Inventory <Bag> [Innate] - Eximius has a special dimension inside of him in which items can be stored by simply touching them. They will not degrade due to time and wear and will be kept in the exact same state they were when put inside the space. It is currently the size of a large pouch.
Slaying - [Innate/Combat] After making contact with a foe, Eximius adjusts his material structure to one said foe is weak to, should it have such a weakness. Can grant a Medium advantage after the first hit.
Of Protection [Innate/Armor 2] - Eximius' wielder enjoys heightened protection as his body grows unnaturally tougher. Reduces the Attack Level of most attacks by 2.
Of Erudition [Innate] - Eximius increases his wielders mental capabilities, mainly comprehension - allowing them to learn faster.
Hawk-eyed [Innate] - Eximius' wielder gain superhuman perception, allowing them to see further with clarity and notice minute details that might be otherwise overlooked.[/b]
Armament Integration and Adaptation [Innate / Variable AL] - Eximius is able to assimilate other weapons - magical or otherwise exceptional - and, rarely, extraordinary materials and items into himself in order to gradually and permanently strengthen himself. In addition, after making contact with a foe, Eximius can adjust his material structure to said foe's weakness if it has any, gaining a Medium Advantage on future attacks.
Magic Focus [Medium Advantage to Host spellcasting] - Eximius serves in a similar capacity as a magus' staff or wand, amplifying magic cast by his user.
Of Warding [+1AR vs Magic Attacks]- Eximius passively shields himself and his host from magical attacks.

Skills:
Limiter Release [Active] - Eximius can temporarily disable his wielder's physical limiters, inflicting slight amounts of damage but increasing their abilities overall. While active increases physical attributes by +2 at the cost of 1d4 damage per action.
Blink [Innate Basic Magic] - Eximius' wielder can increase his speed to inhuman levels for a moment, appearing as if he had teleported.
Illusion [Innate Basic Magic] - Eximius can create an illusionary person to confuse, distract and divert the attention of others. It can appear anywhere, even appearing in the exact same position the wielder is standing in. It takes the appearance of his wielder, though it can also take the appearance which the wielder always sees - a humanoid shadowy silhouette wreathed by faint silver-gold flames, complete with a pair of white glowing eyes. When the wielder is the only person who is supposed to see the illusion, it takes no mana to use.
Intermediate Mana Manipulation
> Mana Shield [+1 Armor / Innate Basic Magic] - Eximius can protect his wielder with a simple, but effective shield made out of hardened mana.
> Mana Wave [+2 AL / Innate Basic Magic] - For those out of reach of melee, Eximius can emit a sharp wave created with pure mana when swung.
> Mana Burn [Innate Basic Magic] - Eximius can coat himself with silver-gold flames that burn away both mana-based projectiles and the mana stored by people or objects. Can be used simultaneously with Mana Wave to disable magic at range. Can inflict a Medium disadvantage to magic.
> Mana Burn Wave [+2 AL / Innate Intermediate Magic] - A skill combining Mana Wave and Mana Burn.
> Mana Slash [+6AL / Innate Intermediate Magic / 5MP] - A skill coating a blade with condensed silver-gold flames of mana, producing a blade like aura. Penetrate the target's physical resistances.
> Manaburn Slash [+6AL / Innate Intermediate Magic / 6MP] - A skill coating a blade with condensed silver-gold flames of mana, producing a blade like aura. Penetrate the target's physical resistances and inflicts Mana Burn.
Regeneration Overdrive [Innate Intermediate Magic] - With a burst of mana and a dash of his own lifeforce, Eximius amplifies the already quickened healing of his wielder, repairing internal damage and closing wounds within seconds.
Sever / Crush [+4 AL] -
> Sever: Eximius is able to momentarily become impossibly sharp, allowing him to cut through most man-made material.
> Crush: Eximius can momentarily multiply his weight, allowing him to crush through plate armor with ease or act as a two-man demolition team together with his wielder.
Elemental Aspect [Innate Intermediate Magic / 2MP] - Eximius' mana assumes an elemental quality and covers him - wreathing him in flames, lightning or other elements. While sustaining a given Elemental Aspect, Eximius' Skills within the Mana Manipulation category are naturally affected as well.
Mana Drain [+2 AL / STR vs RES for effect / half damage drained, excess ignited as damage] - A vicious strike during which Eximius greedily drains away his foe's very mana. The longer he is embedded within the resulting wound, the more he plunders. Should Eximius' reserves be fully refilled or if he didn't require more in the first place, the excess mana that would've been drained will instead violently ignite.
Doppelganger [Innate Intermediate Magic / Illusion / 6MP] - Eximius may create a corporeal Illusion or suddenly shift a pre-existing one into a physical form. While these Doppelgangers may be weaker than his host, it allows them to fight when outnumbered more effectively, able to ward off or absorb blows that would be otherwise tricky to block and grant them the ability to technically outnumber a singular foe. They can still be used like an Illusion, albeit more convincing, as a Doppelganger is able to affect its environment.

Species: Horned Demon -Stage 6-
Appearance: A lean tall humanoid demon with scaly skin, sharp claws, and a barbed tail. His skin is blood red with black tint, and several ornate markings adorn it. His horns are straight and quite sharp. His wings are mostly vestigial, yet he can fly regardless through magical levitation.

- Demonic Ancestry [Innate] - Blood of Demons courses through his veins. Demons can sense the presence of one another.

- Stinger -corrosive acid-  [+3 AL / 2 vs CON] A vicious stinger at the end of his tail, coated with corrosive acid.

- Born Tactician [Innate] - When taking part in the battle, he sees opportunities he can take advantage of.
- Silver Tongue [Innate] - He finds it easy to use and twist his words to get an advantage. Most sentients could be compelled to strike up a conversation.
- Hardened Mind [Innate] - Even supernatural events hardly affect him, granting emotionless analysis in almost all situations.
- Overpowering Mind [Innate] - Each creature touched by his mind feels an oppressive aura. Enemies find it harder to resist mental manipulation.
- Highly Developed Brain [Innate] - With the constant influx of information, his brain matter adapted, becoming more resilient and enduring
- Mind Targeting [Intermediate/Combat] -  Instead of using fickle senses, his established target is an enemy mind, so that spells are cast right at the target body.
- Self-Control [Innate] - Using his abilities on his own body, he can adjust its potential to any possible threat and situation
- Empathy [Innate] - Due to his developed perception and mental prowess, he can feel a slight emanations of feelings from surrounding minds

Skills:
- Extreme analysis - When activated, he enters a state of heightened perception, seeing, hearing and smelling everything around, producing a dangerously high amount of information flooding into the brain. INT starts to influence actions in combat, but an overload of information may have adverse effect

> Violent Mana Absorption [POW vs RES] - He can absorb a portion of MP used by other beings, even as they use it, weakening their spells.

Appearance: A small, shifting reddish-brown mass of tendrils with a cluster of eyestalks around a larger, singular eye. Its characteristics shift and deform occasionally while tapping into something's mind. Its form is transparent to some extent, and its gaze seems rather hungry in an inexplicable manner.

Traits:
Purity of mind [Innate] - resistance to illusions and mind altering effects, combining both individuality and intelligence.
Magical Foci [Innate] - Passive effect that enhances spells being cast within a small area around him, mainly his own. +1 to Attribute when casting a spell.
Unity of mind [INT vs IND] - defeating an enemy using a mental attack puts them into a mind-controlled trance sustained with Mana. Targets released from this state for any reason immediately fall unconscious. No essence is dropped by enemies defeated this way.
Focused Fault [Innate INT] - Azarian’s gaze is intense, easily unraveling vulnerabilities in his opponent both real and self-perceived. It may also give a vague idea as to the statistics of his focus, but he can only pick one creature to focus during combat and suffers disadvantage from other attackers.

Skills
Mind eater [+2 AL / INT vs IND] - A crude mental transfer that serves as his main attack. It slowly drives the target to insanity before putting them in a coma. +2 Attack Level.
Psi Siphon [+1 AL / Basic Innate Magic / 1MP] - A simple spell that steals the target's vitality, draining their Mana and using it to lower their mental resistances. Parasitic Lifeform [Innate INT vs IND] - Skee is a parasite. Outside of a host body, he's (almost) no different from a mundane critter and thus extremely vulnerable. However, once Skee has taken over a host, he's able to tap into their inner strength, increasing their strength and magical prowess, and maybe even revealing hidden abilities the host wasn't aware off. Depending on the size and mental resilience of the host, taking complete control of their body after entering it can take from 5 minutes up to several days. He can leave the host body at any moment, and they'll have no recollection of what happened. (Being inside a host replaces Skee's own Strength, Constitution, Power and Resistance by the host's, slightly increased.)
Internal ducts [Innate] - Skee grows ducts in host's body, allowing him to send poison or serum anywhere in his hosts' body. This can be used to imbue the hosts' claws or teeth with Skee's own paralytic posion for example, thus allowing him to indirectly inject it to his enemies.
Thoughtwalker [Innate] - Skee can peer into his host's mind, allowing him to access its memories and knowledge to some extent. This can be used to perfectly imitate the host's usual personality, for example.
Bioengineer [Innate] - Skee can manipulate his host's body, causing it to grow new organs, tissues and limbs over time, given sufficient nutrition. This can also be used to reinforce already existing organs, or to move them, or even repair internal damage.
Biobond [Innate] - After staying in the same host for a while, Skee gets used to it and becomes much more efficient overall. Basically, the longer Skee stays in the same host, the stronger they both become.
Mind over Matter [Innate Passive INT vs INT] - Skee's developped intelligence allows him to react to physical attacks attempted by less astute adversaries more effectively. When defending against a physical attack, if the attacker's INT is inferior to Skee's, the defense roll is calculated using CON+INT, as opposed to just CON. This also applies to the host Skee is currently inhabiting, using both the host's CON+Skee's INT for physical defense rolls.
Force of Ego [Innate Passive IND vs IND] - Skee's developped individuality destabilizes spells cast at him by weaker willed opponents more effectively. When defending against a magical attack, if the attacker's IND is inferior to Skee's, the defense roll is calculated using RES+IND, as opposed to just RES. This also applies to the host Skee is currently inhabiting, using both the host's RES+Skee's IND for magical defense rolls.

The smarter the host is, the better this works, but it will never result in negative results, even if the host is dumber than its feet, because Skee is essentially using the host's brain as an auxilliary brain for himself.
Telekinesis [Innate Intermediate Magic] - Using the power of his mind, Skee applies force to a physical object, attempting to lift it, move it, etc... Appearance:  Terrence has gained a fair degree of bulk with this transformation, his body now made up of four skeletons. He is supported by four pairs of legs, each pair somewhat fused together for extra sturdiness, with the two pelvises holding them in place being melded together and reinforced by two additional pelvises. The remainder of his torso is a mass of interlocking ribs and vertebrae, topped by a royal crest formed from skulls and collarbones. One skull in particular has grown larger, serving as his main head. The extra arms have fused with his old arms, leaving him still with only four arms, albeit four longer and bulkier arms than before.

Traits:
Undead: Terence is undead, carrying all the typical consequences of being as such. No need for air or sustenance, harmed by positive energy and healed by negative, no vitals to pierce, etc.

Bones abound: Terence is made of bones, bones which aren't quite as strongly attached as they traditionally tend to be. Piercing damage is nigh-worthless against him, and while it's somewhat easier to dismember him, he suffers no damage from such an event and can simply reassemble himself.

Greater body control: Terrence has gained greater dominion over his body. Even when there is no mechanical means to do so, he can still move detached parts of his body, and can quickly detach, re-attach and rearrange parts of himself as needed.

Commanding presence: Terrence has a presence which seems to demand respect from lesser undead. Weak undead creatures (No fewer than two stages below Terrence) may be enthralled by him, even if they are not intelligent, if he succeeds an INT check against their IND

Skills:
Reconstruction: Terrence shuffles his bones around his body, which can range from simply holding one arm in the other as a crude weapon to quickly rebuilding his body into a snake-like form for a quick getaway. The former can happen near-instantly in combat, but more extensive changes such as the latter can take multiple turns.

Mending: Terrence pours energy into the broken parts of his body, causing shattered bones to knit back together. He is able to heal himself, though at a significant MP cost.

Bone reinforcement: Terrence is able to add bones from the surrounding environment to his body, gaining a small portion of their owner's power. Weak creatures will see little to no difference (aside from a minor heal), but strong creatures may improve his HP and physical stats. The maximum HP increase will raise his max HP by 25%, and no stat can be increased by more than 2 beyond its base.

Bone weaponry II: Terrence is now capable of more advanced repurposing of his body. By sacrificing max HP and/or stats gained by bone reinforcement, he can turn parts of his body into detached weapons, or reinforce weapons already made of bone. He does this by bending, reshaping, and melding the bones that make up his body into newer, more dangerous shapes before permanently detaching them.

Appearance: A shiny metal humanoid with what looks like a shifting duster covering it. His body is well defined and made up of an odd metal. It seems to unstably shift between a glowing fire red, a shining crystal blue, a radiant white, a jet black, and a gray stone color, or a strange, chaotic combination that is hard to describe depending on the angle that he is viewed at. And that hat Gray got a while back.

Traits:
Genius - Gray has an exceptional capacity to learn and adapt. He picks up new knowledge and skills at an alarming rate.
Morphous - Gray can now take on and hold forms, even though his body retains its liquid-like appearance and consistency.
Dispersed Conciousness - Gray's conciousness is spread through every molecule of his body, allowing him to control parts of himself separated from his main body and reabsorb them through physical contact. Each division splits his HP between the main body and the separated part.
Prismetal Chaos - The elemental energies inside Gray are as much a part of his makeup as his molecules, but are in a constant shifting state. Its physical attacks are always infused with its form's elements (Strength and Power), and naturally it is much more resilient to the elements making up his form (Constitution and Resistance).
Skilled Body Control - weeks of training have increased Gray's body control. Its movements are more precise and balanced.

Skills:
Harden - Solidifies the body in whatever shape it is currently in, increasing durability.
Engulf - Engulfs all or a portion of the target, restricting it's movements and quickly digesting it

Chaotic Shift - Gray can shift his body to different forms based on his inner elements. But the unstable nature of its elements may cause him to suddenly change form against his will at any moment, especially when using his powers.
The Chaos Form is the standard form of Gray. While not in this form, it may randomly shift into another form, until it returns to the Chaos Form.
The Solar form uses fire and light and allows him to move faster and heal absorbing Light elemental energy, while also burning foes in contact with him.
The Void form uses ice and shadow, leeching energy from nearby foes to slow them and eventually freeze them, and allows him to move silently and heal absorbing Shadow elemental energy.
The Magma form combines earth and fire, burning foes in contact with him and making him much more durable.
The Glacier form combines earth and ice, slowing and eventually freezing enemies around him while making him much more durable. While in a form, he can only use the elements of that form.

Chaosmetal Bombardment: Gray fires off soft or hardened pieces of himself at an opponent. The soft shots may stick to the surface they contact, while the hardened shots may pierce into or though the target. He can infuse these projectiles with elemental energies depending on his form. The default Chaos form utilizes all the energies with unpredictable results, while the other forms can only utilize certain elements. Uses HP and MP, each shot/blob has the amount of HP used to power it. If the blob is destroyed, the HP is lost.

Art of the Dancing Chaos (Martial Art) [Advanced] - a self developed martial art, unique to Gray. It uses unpredictable jabs and dodges by taking advantage of Gray's constitution. A style with strong offense and defense, whose main drawback is the sheer amount of stamina used.

Advanced Magic (Glyph) - Glyph magic, a form of magic that uses glyphs to cast spells. Tracing requires mana, as does activating.

Impact Adaptation: Its body adapts to the strength of impacts, greatly hardening in an instant if hit with sufficient force.

Skill:
Expand: Can rapidly expand its body size.
Engulf: Use Expand to swiftly surround and swallow a target.
Rock Fortress: Turn its whole body in an immovable rock, locking him in place but greatly increased its defensive capabilities.
Art of the Adamant Stone (Martial Art) Advanced: A martial art built around the concept of damaging the enemy with its own blows. Brown uses its unique body structure to receive hits in such a way that the attacker will be more damaged than the receiver. This martial art has few but brutal offensive moves.

Appearance: An incredibly large slime that shines like an opal. A glimmering light can be seen in the core.

Traits:
Reformative: Slimes naturally slowly regenerate HP whilst in sunlight, or in a hot enough environment.
Luminescence:  Yellow pigmentation on the polyslime's surface gathers energy from the sun whilst in sunlight. This energy is released as light whenever the slime wishes to do so.
Blessing of the Suntree: Consuming a sunfruit granted your body the ability to produce an energy close in nature to that of the sun. The latent energy in your body is linked to your mana reserves.
Solidification: Squelchy can solidify parts of his skin at will to make him more resilient. The downside is that that part of the body is rigid, and makes it harder for him to effectively move. The solidified skin is shed once squelchy is done with it. He can use this principle to also create slimy structures, if he has enough time and food to recover the body parts he sheds.
Massive: Being so large has the added bonus that smaller foes are almost insignificant to Squelchy, causing it to both take less damage from and deal more damage to smaller targets.
Toxin-Resistant: Squelchy's makeup has shifted so that toxins, venoms, and poisons have little to no effect on it.
Inspiring: Whenever Squelchy attains success in combat, its allies are inspired to perform slightly better in the same turn.

Skills:
Body Slam (replaces pounce): Squelchy flings itself high into the air before allowing gravity to carry its body into its foe, dealing not only damage to the target, but also any other entities in the area.
Flash: A blinding light is shone upon the target, rendering it temporarily or even permanently sightless.
Glimmering Hope: Squelchy can call upon the light within him to give him an increase to stats until the light within him dims enough to be useless; until the light regenerates, he is weaker.
Genesis: Squelchy can split off portions of its body to create new pseudo-slimes, that act more like autonomous drones than normal slimes. Doing this causes harm to Squelchy dependent on how much matter it releases to forge the new slimes.
Resonate: By vibrating its body at incredible frequencies, Squelchy can release disorienting waves that deafen and numb all non-slime entities that are within a moderate range.

Traits:
Baseline - doesn't add or take away any stats at start, instead doing so in addition to the first evolution.

Night-fright - The Quincreep can still dreamwalk as , but now when doing so it brings with it the excess fear it has picked up along the way. This means it can make even pleasant dreams feel strangely ominous just by entering them. The Quincreep has also internalized the strange corruptive influence, losing part of what makes it itself but in turn becoming more blended with the dreamworld. It is harder to distinguish the Quincreep from the regular nightmares conjured by a sleeping mind. Additionally, some of the Quincreeps abilities are altered in the dream world

Mr. Sandman - The Quincreeps saliva tends to tire out those it touches, in higher quantities it can relatively induce a restless, frightful sleep, meaning that its dull toothed bites can still be dangerous, and its tongue is now a threat beyond just. In the dream world however, this substance is instead somewhat adhesive

Skills:
Tongue Whip - The old tongue from the protoquin has become longer and prehensile with its evolution, enabling it to wrap around small things, such as little creatures, or peoples limbs, additionally it also carries Quincreep spit, which means that it can put things in the waking world to sleep, or stick to things in the dream world.

Morph - The Quincreep can twist its form partially into a shape more intimidating to its target

Bring Me a Dream - The Quincreep can spit out a ball of... well, spit, which either causes rapid exhaustion or is very sticky depending on whether or not it is in the dream world.

Predatory Senses: Can detect and track the scents and trails of aquatic prey. Works better when hungry.

Species: Toothbaby; toddler sized parasitic humanoids with oversized jaws filled with conical teeth well made for gripping flesh, undersized arms and well muscled flexible legs ending in clawed apelike feet for gripping hosts. Think child with tyrannosaur like proportions and you'll be getting close. A human flea and you'd be closer.

Appearance: Gordy, like others of his kind, possesses and umbilicus like tentacle that allows him to paralyze his victims release stimulants or dampen pain, gain control over their nerves controlling locomotion depending on the resiliency of the host, as a youngling he only has limited access to these. He, in particular, has light brown dappled skin a particularly long upwards facing nose and a pair of turquoise eyes common only to his clan. The hair covering of a Toothbaby is quite variable, but Gordy possesses a half a foot tall main of dark grey hair along his back. like all his kind his jaws are extremely flexible and he can move most of his teeth independently.

Paralysis inducing secretions; A bite or a sting can induce seizing muscles and partial paralysis leading to a living but helpless being, the effect takes a minute, lasts about an hour and can only be used once per day.

Mystic Wisps: Conjure flaming wisps from his trumpet and control them. He can only have three out at a time, though.
Warding Melody: A song imbued with protective magic. Repels evil or demonic energy, or beings possessed by them, as well as weakening the effects of curses.
Wisp Jump: A technique that allows Ebon to switch place with one of his wisps nearby. Not instantaneous, but still useful for evasion.

Species: Breadweed
Appearance: A flower with a loaf of bread replacing the head of the flower. The loaf of bread has a face on it.

Breadweed was not always in his current state. In a dimension far, far away from this one, he used to be a mana spirit. Then he poured fractal bread essence onto himself, and became a breadweed. Then he was brutally torn apart and consumed by savage/feral snake people. Then the mush that was his corpse was extracted from the stomachs of said snake people and poured into a brain mold, which was then placed in a jar. He lived in his brain-in-a-jar form for a while before accidentally creating a psionics-eating weapon of mass destruction, which then proceeded to almost kill him. Fortunately, he was saved by the goddess of death that he worshipped... which then extracted the abstract orb (the conduit between me (ATHATH) and Breadweed) from Breadweed and threw it into a celestial shredder/trash bin, which shredded the abstract orb and sent its remnants into the void between dimensions. Breadweed's former body became the entity known as Reaperweed and became a happy/contented servant of the aforementioned goddess of death. Another abstract orb was created, and a new entity, Bookweed, was created to carry out my will upon Breadweed's home dimension.

However, the first abstract orb refused to die. Its fragments floated in the void between dimensions, eventually landing in/on multiple dimensions. Each shard instinctively created a familiar mortal shell around itself when it landed in a new world, and this one created a form that was similar to Breadweed's breadweed form.

Skills:
Alchemy: This shard of Breadweed's knowledge of the mechanics of alchemy from its home dimension somehow transformed into knowledge of the mechanics of alchemy in this dimension. As such, he is proficient in the use and creation of potions and other alchemical items/techniques.
Suggestion: This shard of Breadweed has retained some of its ability to influence the minds of others with its psionic powers. This ability plants (reasonable) hypnotic suggestions in the minds of others.

Traits:
Bonded Weapon - Eximius is an ancient magical artifact and gains all the advantages and disadvantages of being such. His very existence is also bonded to his wielder. Aside from his form as a ring, he can also morph into his wielder's preferred melee weapon. They live and die together, unless the wielder expires due to natural causes - in which case Eximius will sooner or later happen upon another wielder due to the powers of fate. If Eximius and his wielder fall, Eximius himself will be found by a new wielder in a few centuries - fate itself twisting the facts to make Eximius continue existing.
Of Ambition - Eximius intensifies the wielder's inner desires, driving him or her to pursue their ambitions, whether they be things as simple as protecting/slaughtering the weak or something more involved, like gaining control over a kingdom and such.
Symbiotic - Since Eximius and his wielder are technically one entity, they supplement each other's stats during rolls.

Skills:
Limiter Release - Eximius can temporarily disable his wielder's physical limiters, inflicting slight amounts of damage but increasing their abilities overall. (This is preferably a STR skill)

I think those are mermaids. I tend to confuse both too.

Sirens started out as part birds, actually. Then they got confused with other myths and became more known as part fish.
