Outlaws, prison breaking, etc
« on: October 07, 2017, 04:18:14 am »

Currently, a dwarf who breaks the law will accept his sentence despite how harsh it is.
It would be awesome if the game allows a little more fun.

Example 1:
Urist McBadtemper who failed to make a rose gold bed for the king, decides to fight back when the captain of the guards comes to beat him.

Example 2:
Urist McPrisoner has been locked in the cage for days, and for some reason, no one has brought him any water, so he plans to escape before dying from dehydration.

Example 3:
Urist McMurderer escapes the map because he was sentenced 60 days in prison for killing a goblin bard, and he thinks that's too much for him.

Don't trust this toaster that much, it could be a villain in disguise.

You could say that most dwarves by default go along with punishment because of the Justice = Lawlessness civilisation values (imposed onto individual values) create a feeling of intense guilt for doing the crime or acceptance of the consequences.

- You can see justice values in action by dissatisfaction by other dwarves that it wasn't carried out properly, a criminal escaping off map would probably enrage some dwarves in the same way punishing them (often fatally) satiates.

Still it'd be nice if outlaws could adopt secret identities after they make a active attempt to escape, so they can fade back into dwarven society or get caught later. As well as make a effort to get off the map and meet up with other outcasts in the underbellies of cities / join bandit gangs / forcibly emigrate/hide and hope the past doesn't catch up with them with ill gotten goods.

^^ A while, but feasibly that tidbit about secret identities for criminals on the run is feasible before then using the groundwork laid out for spies.
